When you walk into a room, what do you notice first? A) Colour B) Furniture C) Lighting D) Something feels right (or wrong) but you can't explain why My answer: D. After 40 years, I rarely notice colour first. I notice proportion, balance and whether the room "works". What about you?

For me it's the feel of the room. Then I see the details that give a good or bad vibe.
High or low?
Designing a kitchen for clients atm (I have designed the whole house on a green field house - under construction as we speak) Client has asked can the tall unit be lowered to the same height as the eye level oven? Whats the correct response? (I know, just checking with members......!)

Not sure why they want it so but as I am vertically challenged myself, there are often areas of difficult access for me. I would think you might feel like you are living in a Hobbit house though if everything was low? Unless the person is a wheelchair user , if I was designing my kitchen I would perhaps keep the height but have pull down shelves?

@Eily Roe Thanks Eily. Should I leave it white and make white another accent colour eg white framed pictures , hall stand etc

@Eily Roe I see how that could work. Thanks!
Wall colour
What wall colour would anyone suggest for this room?

Also did our hallway. Plan on carpeting the stairs and landing. Two questions. What is a good hard wearing colour for carpet? Also, wooden doors and skirting downstairs. Hubby doesn't want white doors. Radiator is white. Would it be best to paint the radiator the colour of the walls or use a radiator cover to match the doors?

This is an example from a client: Which colour to choose? Pink (She LOVED it - He was unsure) Charcoal (He LOVED it- She absolutely not!) Sage Green (They were both ok with it but really no-one was in love with it) Final Decision? A slight change of colour to a grey/pink - very sophisticated, won't date & really works with lots of other elements they had already. Outcome - very happy family.
