πŸŽ₯ Live Zoom Reminder: Next Friday!
Hi everyone! Just a reminder that our Live Zoom Call is happening next Friday. I can't wait to see you all there! How is everyone doing with their progress so far? I'd love to hear how your practice is goingβ€”please post an update in the group or leave a comment below to let us know how you're feeling! Please be prepared to answer these questions on the call: 1. What lesson are you on? 2. What have you learned about Tai Chi in the past month? 3. What's your number one challenge with Tai Chi at the moment? 4. What questions do you have? Special Activity: Be ready to demonstrate your favorite Tai Chi move or your least favorite move (haha)! We’ll be sharing these so we can all learn from one another, have some major breakthroughs, and some fun! If you're newer to the Tai Chi form and community and don't feel confident enough yet to share a move, don't worry about it! It's an optional activity.

Hello Dr Hoover, I've fallen off the wagon and don't feel good about it. starts with justified postponing; trying to get into a routine with the back to school, back to work, tackle what you left undone before the holidays, new things popping up. etc etc, then had some issues with my phone and the videos not working, now the app doesn't want to open. and in the daily rush, if it doesn't work immediately I move onto the next thing that needs to be done> now I'm sitting with over 10days, probably two weeks of no lessons or following. AND i even lost the Zoom Class which I so wanted to be part of !!!😭😱 life is a bit hectic, but I think its the same for many people. I'm ADD, dyslexic and suffer from chronic anaemia, vit B deficiency. But I'm not going to be down, I have inner peace most of the time and I'm proud I know I am trying every day my best in all. I just need to keep at it and sort out my priorities and a bit more time management and efficiency (which is obviously a struggle for me). Anyway, today I get my Vit B shot πŸ˜ƒ, which I'm well overdue and I hope to sort out the issue on my cell app. Tai chi so important to me but it gets pushed aside and last too often. will work on that. I was really inspired by the intro, learning you are also ADD but have succeeded a lot. I struggle but I don't want to give up. At the moment I'm also struggling with my classes, I priorities getting ready for them but its all different people: I've been having a wave of new students enthusiastically wanting to start the new year with Tai Chi, most have physical problems, overweight, serious back injuries ect. then I have my "old" students which have fallowed me since a few month and are easier to teach but most of them have also other schedules in their lives and sometimes disappear for weeks and months. Its becoming challenging to plan a lesson to fit all. so today I am giving two classes, one for the older students and one for the newcomers. I've even been asked to do Tai chi from sitting, which I didn't even know about until I googles it 😐. I warn them all I'm not an official instructor or have medical capability. I just want to transmit what I have learned over the past decade and how it has improved/changed me. I take it also as a learning practical for my future.

@Daniel Hoover thank you so much. Great info and tips. Will definitely try the habit stacking. Looking forward to the next zoom session
Huge Congratulations to Louis! πŸ†
We are thrilled to officially announce that @Louis Carrillo has become our newest SOHMA Tai Chi Certified Instructor! Louis has long been a leader in our community, always going above and beyond to help his fellow students and instructors. Beyond our school walls, he has been a vital force in spreading Tai Chi throughout Long Beach. He has been leading at our free community classes at Heartwell Park and teaching Tai Chi at the YMCA. I even learned that he has been substitute teaching for one of our other graduates at the JCC. We are incredibly grateful to have such a high-caliber instructor and dedicated leader among our ranks. Please join us in the comments in congratulating Louis on this massive achievement! πŸ‰βœ¨

Happy Belated Congratulations to Jeff! πŸŽ“πŸ†
As we close out the year, we have one very important milestone to celebrate. Since we recently launched this new platform, we wanted to make sure we officially recognized @Jeff Coats for graduating from the SOHMA Tai Chi Program this past August! Jeff has shown incredible discipline and heart throughout his journey. We are so proud to see him reach this milestone and complete the program. Celebrating Together It is always more meaningful when we celebrate as a community. We want to give a special shout out to the fellow graduates who were there to witness the ceremony and share in the moment in this photo: - @Kala Carrick - @Gopi Janine Ma Li - @Madoka Urhausen Jeff, your dedication to the art is an inspiration. We are honored to have you as a graduate of our program and are glad to have your achievement recorded here in our new community home. Hi, and welcome to SOHMA Tai Chi! I’m Dr. Daniel Hoover, the creator of the School of Healing Martial Arts and the SOHMA Tai Chi Instructor Certification Program. We’re excited to have you here as you build your practice, deepen your understanding, and work toward becoming a confident Tai Chi practitioner and/or a certified instructor. This community is your space to learn, ask questions, and grow alongside others on this path. How about you? Will you introduce yourself and share what you’re looking forward to in this program? Hello everyone! I'm Carola. I have followed Tai Chi for the past 10 years and it has become a passion. I'm particularly interested in internal martial art and healing practices as I've personally felt the change. I've moved several times and have had different masters which have exposed me to various styles and practises. in 2024 I finally decided it would be wonderful to learn how to teach tai chi in order to spread the benefits to all that are willing to try. unfortunately I then had to move again and didn't get a chance to start my teacher training with my then 5 year Master's school in Rome. I now live in Harare, Zimbabwe. Last year I tried keeping up my training and have volunteered at a community mental health centre to share some basics as a way to keep going. I am so happy I have finally found and inscribed into this course. I am really looking forward to learning from Dr Hoover. I do not believe in Tai Chi as movements alone, I want to keep learning and practising to improve healing, connectiveness and how to help others.
