Many spiritual traditions, philosophies, etc. talk about "letting go" of the idea of the self. It is an idea that keeps us separate from each other, Because we identify ourselves as separate from each other. But in a world that sells "individualism", "independence", "identity politics", etc... Letting go of all that can be easier said than done. Simple but not easy. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. We all have to start somewhere. For most people... Simply dropping what we're carrying is just not going to happen overnight. The identity is a construct. It is a product of the stories we tell ourselves. We decide who we are and who we want to be. In order to let go of the self... We usually have to face it first. "Who am I?" (check out THIS VIDEO for more context) The ultimate goal here is to let go of the idea of "I" altogether. To dissolve the ego and merge with the whole. But a good starting point... Is to look into whether or not the "I" you have built... Is even the version you want, as far as the "self" goes. Because if it isn't... Then you may be telling yourself the wrong story. Have you asked yourself... "Who am I?" 💡
