Seeing with Intent - Assignment 6 - Image Submissions
Submission: Post an image showing that something is about to happen or has just happened. Post one image at a time, plus a short note: - What gesture or stillness caught your attention? - Why did you choose this frame over the moment before or after? Success Looks Like If someone viewing the image feels like they’re arriving late—or a little early—to something, you nailed it.

I attended a nosework training session with my dog. One dog wanted to stay active all the time, so the owner went to another section where sliding doors were available to separate the space. This created a small gap where you could occasionally see the dog poking its head out. It made me think of this exercise. Does the dog come out, or what happens next? I felt it could become quite a clean image, yet still dynamic. The lighting wasn’t very good, though, so I tried to brighten the photo a bit. I also have another image with better contact with the dog, but I feel this one fits the assignment better.

Seeing with Intent - Assignment 5 - Image Submissions
Assignment 5 Photo Challenge — The Necessary Image Create one photograph that communicates a single, clear idea or feeling using subtraction as your primary tool. Assignment Prompt: Photograph a subject you might normally shoot wide or inclusively, then deliberately remove anything that does not serve its meaning. Your goal is clarity through restraint. Be sure that your new post is posted to the last comment in this thread. There often is a button that says "Jump to last comment." You don't want your image to appear as a comment under someone else's image.

The facade caught my attention because of the two different types of brick, both slightly chipped and worn. I really like the combination of materials—brick, dark wood, and metal. I wanted to create a darker image, but not completely black, to achieve a different mood. I aimed for a slightly abandoned and lonely feel, while still preserving some of the texture. The first image is the original photo. In the second and third versions, I worked on refining the composition by cropping out distracting elements and removing details such as electrical outlets to create a cleaner look. In the final version, I adjusted the colors and lighting to enhance the mood. Ideally, I would have liked to remove the window trims as well, but I couldn’t quite make it work, so I left them in. Overall, I wanted to focus more on mood and texture than on perfection.

By now, most of you have learned that the interaction really takes place under the Post Images Here tab. Your reactions to all the assignments and their related images are under that tab. Unfortunately, most of you are letting me do all the responding in writing on the posted images, and you have fallen into the learned FB behavior of just giving likes. Please break that habit. Give your community members some written feedback. It means so much more, and we all learn so much more.

I’ll do my best, but you guys are so much more experienced and knowledgeable than me, so I’ve felt like I don’t have much to add. I’ll start commenting anyway—feel free to take it for what it’s worth.

I’m just an amateur who started photography and found new meaning in it. I’m here to learn and make my photos more interesting.
