Importance of load testing!
Not strictly automotive but relevant. Called out to take a look at a solar setup after their ‘electrician’ had condemned and replaced the charge controller and still had the same issue. ‘You can see voltage with the meter so what’s the problem’ Yeahhh that’s the problem.

Anyone know the inner workings of these VAG brake switches?
Got a VW crafter here throwing up a Brake light Switch F lower limited not reached and implausible signal. It’s come to me after a replacement switch hasn’t cured the issue (no brake lights). Load tested the four wires up to the ABS module, all good. Can’t seem to make sense of the reference signals the module is using though, bridging a couple of the pins causes the F high (ON) and F low (OFF) to flip in the live data but the switch itself does nothing, may as well be unplugged. I don’t want to condemn the module or the switch without understanding the parameters the circuit should have and how it operates. OEM information is typically unhelpful, just ‘continuity test the wires’ Thanks in advance guys ✌️

It’s CX 65 UHJ. Ah okay, yeah that makes more sense. I’ll try bench test it with a magnet and check for continuity with the meter. The fact that it doesn’t cause any change in the module but bridging the wires does makes me want to say another bad switch but trying to avoid guessnostics because I don’t understand something Thanks Robert

@Robert Shervill Update, second OEM switch in and still no change. As far as pins, one is showing 10.6V, two are ground and one is 0V No change on any of the pins when brake pedal is applied or magnetic contact in general. Massively leaning towards a failed module unless anyone can see a flaw in my logic? Cheers guys
