3 Books Creatives Need to Read
3 books that have really helped me in my career path as a self employed voice actor. I highly recommend these if you make make your living in a field that youre truly passionate about (or would like to!) 1. THE WAR OF ART by Steven Pressfield A former Marine and a best selling novelit with a very pragmatic mind, this book goes into the psychology being creative, the importance of discipline even when alot of emotion is present, how to navigate success and failure, sacrifice, and the nature of persistence. 2. CONGRATULATIONS, WHO ARE YOU AGAIN? by Harrison Scott Key A hilarious memoir about the process of writing his first hilarious memoir. While there are lots of laughs along the way, it’s chock full of examples of how a guy chased a dream and achieved it. 3. STEAL LIKE AN ARTIST by Austin Kleon According to Kleon, emulating great artists until your own style evolves into something usable, is a great way to develop any art form. P.S. the RemRock wallet is made by my brother Joseph Phillips (who gave me book #3!) The wristwatch is a Citizen Eco-Drive Sailhawk that another brother gave me to commemorate us getting our Keelboat and Coastal Navigation Certifications from the American Sailing Association Affiliate links: https://amzn.to/3ZItYwF - The war of art by Steven Pressfield https://amzn.to/4qZ24ZC -Congrats who are you again - harrison scott key https://amzn.to/4qef4JF - Steal like an artist by Austin Kleon

Thanks for the recommendations! I would highly recommend Mako Fujimura's Culture Care as well for anyone looking to work in a creative field for the long haul.

How To Talk Southern
Tonight we'll do a call where we focus on the features of the American Southern accent, and some variations. It's great to have a good southern accent in your voice repertoire, but especially if you want to audition for "Southern Pride and Prejudice" but aren't sure about this accent. If you're able to join, make sure you open the calendar and click the Skool link on today's date.

@Jake Phillips I think so. I've had this problem on Discord before. (And we tested it out last night on Skool.)

@Brittany Barry *head desk* Tabitha called it a sound cancellator. I was just rollin' with it, that's *all*...
Peter Capaldi reads Orwell’s 1984
Mr Capaldi’s matches the narrative style perfectly with the writing. At any point in the narration you can tell that everything is cold and bleak and that something awful is about to happen. Take a second a check out at least minute of it. This is outstanding

Favorite Supporting Character
What's a favorite supporting character of yours in a voice a voice acting performance? One of mine is "Alan O Dale" voiced by Roger Williams in the animated version of Disney's "Robin Hood"

Edna Mode. You gotta love that they couldn't find anyone who could do the character the way Brad Bird envisioned it, and eventually just went, "Yours will do."

Jesus knows what I am and calls me what He is making me As it is written, He gives life to the dead, and is calling the things that are not as being.
