Share your most EMNBARRASSING photography mistakes...
I can't lie I did nearly all of the mistakes in the books 😂 - forgot the sd card on the shoot - shot with the lens cap on - forgot to charge the battery - deleted a good photo by accident - etc... What's your horror story with photography, or rather just something embarrassing you are scared to admit?

i formatted a card at the end of an engagement session and lost everything i just shot. i didn’t notice until i got home (i thought for some reason i was formatting a different card, not the one i jus shot on). i had to explain to the couple but for some odd reason they still trusted me again so we redid the session. they ended up hiring me for their wedding and then for newborn photos over a year later which is amazing but i can’t live that mistake down because everytime they reach out i think of it 😭

@Ben Franke MEGA RIP
How do you deal with culling without losing your mind?
After a big shoot, the worst part is coming back to pick the best photos and edit them. Sitting there with 1500+ RAW files and just… deciding. Keep. Reject. Keep. Reject. I’ve tried doing everything in Lightroom. I’ve tried faster viewers. I’ve tried rating systems, stars, color labels, even some AI tools. Every time I start simple, and then somehow it turns into overthinking. I’ve been experimenting with stripping it down to the basics. Full screen image. Keyboard only. Make the call and move on. Curious how ya'll approach it. Do you do multiple passes? Separate emotional picks from technical rejects? Trust AI? Or just power through in one go?

such a big challenge! i’ve learned im someone who culls “emotionally” so i try to stick to a quick gut feeling. also i have to cull right after shooting like no more than a week later or i lose that emotional attachment and the process becomes slower because ill stare / debate longer. i use a different platform to cull and then upload into lightroom for a second round of culling

hi everyone! i am kassidy i live in a small town with major “stars hallow” vibes in pennsylvania. with the amish. that’s right 😂 i am 30 years old and just became a mom so my baby is currently 8.5 months! i have been in the wedding industry for 4 years. what drew me into this industry was my own wedding photographer was just horrible and i felt robbed that people have to chose between quality and affordability for such a precious day in our lives. although, now i’ve learned the hard way how to properly price myself so clients aren’t just looking for “cheap” and taking advantage! this year as a new mom i chose to second shoot a lot more weddings and i’m really passionate about that as well! i would genuinely love to get more into the education side as well by teaching and showing others how i grew my business from nothing to full time & six figures in just one year. no gatekeeping here i truly believe there are plenty of weddings happening for everyone who wants to capture them! 🫶🏼

@Caustina Morrison i love the honesty. i think imposter syndrome is something everyone experiences! i know i do. especially if you’re self taught! it can be crippling. i find it helpful to stay off instagram and pinterest the day before a session.

My plan to make $120,000+ with photography in 2026!!! 🚀
I thought I would make this post as public accountability, but also just to genuinely share value for people struggling at any level. Even if you don't want to make money with photography i still recommend you look through this. Here’s exactly how I’m approaching $120K+ 👇 Step 1: I'm picking ONE core income lane For me, that’s: - Client work (photo + some video) - Only 2 niches: Portraits + Events Step 2: Do the math (this removes anxiety instantly haha) - $120,000 / year = $10,000 / month - ~$2,000 per client - 4–5 clients per month = $8–10k Step 3: Raise perceived value before raising prices For me I need to break down: - Clear niche positioning (who + what problem you solve) - Clean portfolio (only work that attracts paying clients) - Simple offer (one main package, one upsell) Step 4: Daily outreach > waiting to be discovered This is the unsexy part lol: - DM businesses daily - Email brands with custom Looms - Follow up (politely, repeatedly) Step 5: Track weekly, not yearly I personally focus on metrics like: - Outreach's sent - Calls booked - Deals closed - Revenue per client $120K isn’t the end goal of course, but I think it's something that I'm reaching this year from photography alone. No gatekeeping here haha, I will be transparent if i make it or not! Follow my Youtube for more personal updates: https://www.youtube.com/@jan_danielewicz
