I thought I would make this post as public accountability, but also just to genuinely share value for people struggling at any level.
Even if you don't want to make money with photography i still recommend you look through this.
Here’s exactly how I’m approaching $120K+ 👇
Step 1: I'm picking ONE core income lane
For me, that’s:
- Client work (photo + some video)
- Only 2 niches: Portraits + Events
Step 2: Do the math (this removes anxiety instantly haha)
- $120,000 / year = $10,000 / month
- ~$2,000 per client
- 4–5 clients per month = $8–10k
Step 3: Raise perceived value before raising prices
For me I need to break down:
- Clear niche positioning (who + what problem you solve)
- Clean portfolio (only work that attracts paying clients)
- Simple offer (one main package, one upsell)
Step 4: Daily outreach > waiting to be discovered
This is the unsexy part lol:
- DM businesses daily
- Email brands with custom Looms
- Follow up (politely, repeatedly)
Step 5: Track weekly, not yearly
I personally focus on metrics like:
- Outreach's sent
- Calls booked
- Deals closed
- Revenue per client
$120K isn’t the end goal of course, but I think it's something that I'm reaching this year from photography alone.
No gatekeeping here haha, I will be transparent if i make it or not!
