Pottery Popup Update
The weather was cold (55F, 13c) but cooperated as the rain stopped a couple hours before the popup! My sale was 10-4 and I was still setting up at 9:50 when the first person arrived! My hubby had painted 7 spots in the barnyard to help people know where to park and those spaces were all full plus we had overflow into the field from 9:50 - 12:30pm! From 12:30-4 there were 1-3 carloads browsing and buying. I almost sold out but still have some pieces… some I’m truly surprised didn’t sell (like my little cookie cutter trinket dishes). I had 40-45 sales, many with multiple pieces. My husband snapped a few photos but I was not able to get any video as I had hoped 🤷🏻‍♀️ Highlights: - the interactions with people and talking clay in general. - Seeing those handful of people who spent close to an hour picking their perfect pieces! - Connecting with a clay sculpture artist from just down the road! - Seeing young people pick out something for Mom or friends gifts. - Seeing some good friends and neighbors stop by to support. - A lovely friend who is also a master gardener made three beautiful bouquets for my tables. Due to day job work commitments, I didn’t do everything I wanted but thanks to fellow potters on here and friends, I made the mental commitment to NOT berate myself for things I didn’t do. I’m reframing to things I’ll work to do next time: - those great labels that Audrey showed us how to do in one of her videos - Keep a better inventory and at least count pieces like Diana has shared she does for their markets. - Price pieces the day before the market I’m sure more ideas will come to mind. After the market my husband helped me pack up and he scooped me away to take me out to dinner, it was a good day filled with connections, pottery, new ideas and new beginnings 😊 (Also, I’m tired! 😂)

😂 4 YEARS AGO TODAY!!! 😂
Oh my goodness… a memory just popped up from 1st May 2022 and I am CRYING laughing watching it back!! So embarrassing!!! Apparently kiln openings back in 2022 used to involve: 😂 screeching 😂 squealing 😂 dancing 😂 laughing 😂 complete emotional instability 😆 To be fair… I think I’ve calmed down slightly over the last 4 years… …although honestly, maybe not THAT much 😂 The funny thing is, even after all this time, kiln openings still feel magical to me. That excitement when you lift the lid and see what happened never really goes away 💜 Please tell me I’m not the only person who reacts like this to pottery 🤣https://www.youtube.com/shorts/zjQ9ehf2Ook

🌿 May Challenge: “Alles Neue bringt der Mai” 🌿
This month, we’re diving into glazes.🫟 Inspired by Sarah from Three Little Potters, this challenge is all about testing, exploring, and rethinking what we already have. We all have those glazes. The ones we rarely reach for. The ones we tend to avoid… because they never quite turned out the way we hoped. Colors that feel off. Results that disappoint. Tests that didn’t go as planned. So this month, we’re choosing one of them. ✨ Pick one glaze you don’t like (or don’t trust yet) ✨ Combine it with 5 different glazes you already know and trust ✨ Test them layered, top & bottom, side by side — get curious ✨ Share your results How you do it? Completely up to you. Test tiles, small dishes, a cup, a plate… everything on one piece or separate tests — there’s no right or wrong way. This is about experimentation.🧪🔬 Try unusual combinations. 🤪 Push it further than you normally would. Be bold with it. At the end, take a moment to reflect: What worked? What didn’t? What surprised you? The goal isn’t perfection. It’s discovery.💡 And maybe, just maybe, the glaze you’ve been avoiding comes back to life. ✨ Share your process, your tests, your results ✨ Let’s learn from each other ✨ And turn “unloved” glazes into something unexpected
