Two Types of Change
When people think of change, they normally think about choices. They change their jobs, fashions, hairstyles, diets, schedules, friends etc. However, what happens when you don't choose anything differently? Change STILL happens! Changes that are made by you choosing differently, are called selected changes. Changes that keep happening automatically, are called default changes. So what happens when you aim at nothing in your life? You will hit it every time! This means that if you don't choose differently from the default changes in life, then you will unavoidably live with the default outcomes every single time. A good example of this is the old adage that if you don't vote, then you can't complain. The same principle applies to all areas of your life wherein you have the power of choice. If you do not choose something, somewhere, differently, and then follow through with an achievable action plan, then you mustn't moan and complain when a year later, you are still sitting in the same set of circumstances. If you have the power to choose badly, then you have proven that you have the power to choose. So what are you going to choose differently for the next week? YES - think about it NOW. What will you start doing differently? Then follow it through achievably and with consistency. 😀

@Sacha Fermor Hi Sacha. This is not uncommon. This is because our brains faithfully polarise to that which is familiar. The unfamiliar it interprets as a threat to it's programmed normal. This is part of the reason why taking on new things (and especially pursuing a new goal), do not automatically just fall into place like choosing a cup of tea. This is were life coaches prove their worth with developing strategic thinking patterns out of an individual's self-awareness. I hope that this leaves you with something positively challenging to think about. 😀💡
Get Going!
Initiating personal commitment to something new in your life, is something that ONLY YOU can do! Others can help you, encourage you, guide you, direct you and advise you, but only you can get your own, "rear into gear". 😀 The key to greatness is a sense of destiny. But there is NO GREATNESS until you pitch up. So, some might need to get up, wake up, look up, smarten up, jack up or lighten up 😀, but WE ALL need to pitch up - everyday and put our best foot forward.

@Lyle Mills On a lighter note, hibernation in winter would be best. In reality, I am usually up at 4AM when training and 5AM when not.
Sowing into a new lifestyle...
People often hear this quote: "What you sow, you reap." This is true with all lifestyle changes: "Sow a thought, reap an action. Sow an action, reap a habit. Sow a habit, reap a lifestyle." Your lifestyle changes ALWAYS start in your THINKING PATTERNS. There are NO EXCEPTIONS. How we change the thinking patterns, is a combination of various factors that scientifially come together into a plan and a process.

@Anri Tagg Absolutely! It's strange how much work needs to be done on ourselves FIRST, before we start being more successful interpersonally elsewhere. This is a major topic which I deal with more in relational coaching, but simply put, you cannot successfully invest in anything or anyone else, until you have first invested in yourself - and many people are metaphorically bankrupt in that regard. 🙂
