Looking forward to the next step
After three years of listening in on the mastering videos I'm finally here in the Skool! Looking forward to where I can take this. This is where I am to this point..

@Chris Hutton Hi Chris, I have no problem if you would like to have a go at it, It would be great! In reading your comments, I would like to mention that I have not learned how to use reference tracks yet, how to actually obtain them and how to drop them in my daw during mastering, and I believe that would have made a huge difference for me, I'm really excited to learn how to do it and how to use references. I have a long way to go with EQ! do you need me to drag a copy of the song again? Thanks, Bruce

Wow, I really like it! The vocal did appear a little more forward and an over improvement I feel. I think that these are some of the things that will come to me with time. I also felt the Bass was improved slightly. When you spend a year with something like this one (Me) becomes a little fatigued as it drags on especially the second guessing and the stuff that comes with producing a song! Thank you so much for your interest in helping me with this. So, feedback wise, am I moving in the right direction with my abilities?

@Toby McMillan Hey Toby, yes, I did everything with exception to the B3 which I had my friend Gregg Dye from San Jose, Ca lay down for me! I arranged the Drums on Toontracks EZ Drummer and played, sang, produced and mastered on Studio one 5 everything else. Thank you for your comments and thanks for listening! One day at a time!

@Toby McMillan Hi Toby, I used a universal Audio Oxbox through my Divided by 13 FTR37 Amplifier Head direct into my Studiolive 32 console in stereo for preamp and then to the DAW. I arranged the drums in Toontracks EZ Drummer and the Bass direct through a DI. Thank you for the compliment on my vocals. It's been a long journey and roadblock for me to come to terms with my recorded voice, never liked my voice, but I'm starting to find myself, I don't consider myself a vocalist by any means, I need to sing and deal with it if I want to get my songs out of my head and become a songwriter. Same with producing and recording, I generally build my songs around the guitar and then go from there. I'm really new to this in the digital domain and I put this aside for years as I'm just going to retire and pursue this again. I have learned most of what I know so far in the free Mastering classes and hope enroll this coming year in the Mastering Reverse engineering course. Don't know if you're on Facebook, but I'm on Facebook in Salinas, Ca. Perhaps when I have a bit of spare time we can do something, I'm actually quite embarrassed about how I got to where I did with this song technically. I'm hoping for better with my next!

looking Forward to listening in!
Need an Assist
A while back I posted a song that I received a lot of great feedback on. "Sky Chief" One of the things that was suggested to me was that the Bass was a little off the beat or not quite locked with the drums and it was suggested that I look up this Joe Gilder video on how to edit the timing. I cannot for the life of me remember what the title of that video was. Is anyone out there familiar with the Joe Gilder lesson video I'm talking about? Any assist with this would be greatly appreciated. It was late last year sometime around November /December P.S. I did use the program and it worked fantastic! My DAW is Studio One.

Thank you Andy, I did find that Joe Gilder video and also am now using Melodyne to correct pitch and timing issues! Got a new song in the hopper and my editing skills are much improved! I can’t wait to finish up vocals and a few more layers of guitar and keys so I can see how my third try at producing, engineering and performance sound when I master the song! Thanks for your reply! Bruce
Trying to wrap up my last song of 2023
So I can allow myself party like a queen tonite 🤣 This has been a good tecnique I ve been using a while to finish songs. self motivation with a weekly reward. highly recommended to my producer friends who are struggling to finish projects. Each completition will add to your confidence and confidence will make the next song better.
