After Hours Fee
I’ve had a lot of reschedules lately and I am usually fully booked 2 weeks out which is resulting in me having to either work really late nights or on my on my only day off. I already have a lack of boundaries but it’s meaning that I’m literally having no time outside of work. Does anyone have an after hours fee in place and if so how much?

@Nicky MacLean if I was to implement it i would inform them at the time of booking that I have nothing available unless they want an after hours appointment which is an extra $20 and then they could make the decision whether they wanted to wait or not x

It is not to be a deterrent at all 😊 Its more the fact if I’m going to sacrifice the little time I have off because they really “need” it I don’t mind but it is going to cost extra kinda like how when you work for a company and get time and a half for working on a public holiday (not that I would charge an extra .5 of their appointment costs) I would clearly state as well when rescheduling a client that I can either do an after hours appointment which would have a $20 after hours fee or my next availability is in 3 weeks sort of thing.

Drop below what you're proud of this week/month/year? My times and consistency are getting soo much better. Starting out, this set of extensions and design would take me 3hrs, today it took 1.5hrs! I didnt cut corners and maintained nail health. I'm so excited and so proud 🤍

Shortening Nails
I'm curious to know how everyone shortens long nails, as I've seen a few different ways. I find when I use the efile bit to shorten my own nails it can skip and be painful, I've also read that this can ruin your efile bits quicker.

I use my e file to reduce length and then debulk 🫶🏼 I get the skipping part sometimes too but have found it is my position of my efile when I do it x
The whole brand thing 😬
Ok, so I know this comes up a lot in the FB group we came from - brands! And when we ask for recommendations we get all the brand owner/ambassador stuff. With that out of the picture here I'd love to know everyone's genuine fave, reliable, go to choices for BIAB/builder gel, rubber base gels and hard gels. I feel like I'm always trialling new stuff to find systems I love and I would love to lock down some ride or die options lol.

I use Kokoist platinum filler and Glam pro rubber base 🫶🏼 I switched to using the glam pro rubber base for my structured gel sets and I’ve had such amazing retention 🫶🏼 I use it as my base for the the platinum filler aswell for better adhesion x Both are hema free, if kokoist had more hema free bases I would use them to but I don’t like using anything on the nail plate that has hema no matter how low or safe the amount is. Just a personal preference. Luckily kokoist is meant to be reformulating to hema free but who knows how long that will be as they don’t want to lose quality either x

I don’t track it properly but every now and then I’ll wonder how much of a tax break I’m getting and go through and work it out 😂 My mumma said she’d make me up a spread sheet I can use so this has motivated me to take her up on that offer
