Authors, What Do You Really Want from an Editor?
Do you prefer an editor who protects and preserves your unique voice, keeping your style intact, or someone who tightens, polishes, and perfects every sentence for clarity and flow? In my experience as a professional editor, the best edits strike a balance: enhancing readability and impact while keeping the author’s voice alive. But I’d love to hear your thoughts what’s your approach or expectation when working with an editor?
INTRODUCTION
Hi everyone, My name is Mary, and I’m an independent book editor. I work closely with authors who want their manuscripts to feel polished, professional, and truly ready for readers not just “edited,” but refined with care. I genuinely love working with authors especially those who are passionate about their stories but want a professional eye to help bring everything together. If you’re working on a manuscript and need thoughtful, honest feedback, I’d be happy to connect. Looking forward to being part of this community
