Football gives us a pretty good picture of something we sometimes forget as men: You don’t become ready on game day. You prepare before game day. The preseason is where players compete, get evaluated, make mistakes, get coached, get back up, and fight for their position. And eventually, the roster gets cut. That made me think… What are we doing during our own “preseason”? As husbands. As fathers. As leaders. As Christians. Are we preparing now for the responsibilities God has placed in front of us? Because eventually, life is going to put us on the field. The question isn’t whether adversity is coming. It’s whether we’ve prepared for it. Prayer is preparation. God’s Word is preparation. Discipline is preparation. Working on ourselves is preparation. Being accountable to other men is preparation. And sometimes preparation means getting knocked down, learning from it, and getting back up. “The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.” — So with all of that …. Who is your team this year?
