Growing pains 🌱
Lately I’ve been trying really hard to notice the parts of myself that keep me small. The overthinking. The emotional reacting. The fear of getting things wrong. The waiting until I feel “ready”. 🫠🫠🫠 And honestly? I still struggle with all of it. 🙈 But I’m starting to realise that growth rarely feels comfortable while it’s happening. It’s a bit like shedding old skin. Old habits. Old beliefs about who we are and what we deserve.💜 Sometimes we think everyone else has it figured out, but I reckon most of us are quietly trying to unlearn things while learning new ways to be at the very same time.🙈 Maybe progress isn’t becoming somebody completely different.Maybe it’s gently returning to ourselves underneath all the noise. So if you’re in a season of feeling uncomfortable, stretched, emotional or uncertain… maybe that doesn’t mean you’re failing.Maybe it means something inside you is shifting. 🌿 And we’re all doing it together in one way or another.Small steps. Small noticing. Small brave moments.A smidgen at a time. 🤎 You guys are Awesome by the way ! 😍🙏🏼

Kate, I really appreciate you sharing this with us. I think one of the hardest parts of growth is that from the inside it often feels messy instead of brave. The noticing itself matters more than perfection ever will. I especially loved this:“ Maybe it’s gently returning to ourselves underneath all the noise.” This feels true to me. Not becoming someone new. Just slowly uncovering the parts of us that were there before fear got so loud. A smidgen at a time really is enough 💗
Chasing Depth with Watercolour & Salt ✨👌
There’s something about watercolours that feels a little bit like letting go. For this week’s Around the World in 80 Sketches I reached for the paints, sprinkled in some salt and let the pigments do their thing 🙌🏻 ✨ I also pulled out the fine liners because I wanted to play with contrast between softness and detail. I really enjoyed building up the layers and depth in this one, watching the falls slowly appear through all the washes and textures. 🎨🧑‍🎨 I think that’s one of my favourite things about creating… sometimes the materials surprise you if you give them enough room to breathe 🩵

This line really hit home: sometimes the materials surprise you if you give them enough room to breathe. This is also my experience with life: if I give my life experiences enough room to breathe the results can surprise me. Thanks, Kate!
A Soft Beginning 🌱
I read something today that stayed with me…about how creativity doesn’t always arrive in bright, shiny moments.🤔 Sometimes it begins in the dark. In the unsure, the quiet, the “I don’t quite know what this is yet.” We often celebrate the lightbulb moment… the ta-da!But what we don’t talk about enough is everything that comes before it.The slow forming, the muddle, the invisible growing. 🌱 Ideas don’t just appear fully formed. They stretch, they sit, they take their time.A bit like something gently rooting beneath the surface before it dares to bloom. And maybe that part…the murky, in-between bit…isn’t something to rush past or fix. Maybe it’s something to honour. 🙌🏻❤️ Because your creativity isn’t just the finished piece—it’s the whole journey of it finding its way. So if things feel a little unclear right now,a little foggy or unfinished… you’re not lost.you’re just in the beginning 🌱🙏🏼

Thanks for this post, Kate. I want to honor my creativity by noticing when it is showing up. Not just in art, not just in crafts, but also in the ways I approach problems and solutions.

@Kate Bullock It’s interesting, isn’t it Once I started noticing it, I couldn’t unsee it. It shows up in the small things all the time. In how I figure something out. In how I respond instead of react. This helped me see that creativity isn’t something I “do.” It’s something I’m already using every day. Thank you for helping me see it more clearly!
What the Plants Taught Me This Morning 🌿
I noticed some beautiful plants uncurling themselves towards the sun on my walk this morning, and it made me think about something… 🌿 They weren’t asking permission. They weren’t checking who approved. They weren’t shrinking themselves to fit the space around them. They were simply turning towards what helps them grow. 🌻 And maybe we forget we’re allowed to do that too. How much of your precious energy is spent trying to be understood, approved of, or liked by people who may only be passing through this chapter of your life? 🧐 How often do you make yourself smaller so others can stay comfortable? What might happen if you gently turned yourself towards the things that warm you too? Towards rest.Towards creativity.Towards peace.Towards the life that feels like yours.🫶🏻💗 Some people are here for a season. But you are here for your whole life.💜 Maybe your energy belongs with the light. 🤍

If today felt like a colour… what colour would it be, and why? 🎨✨
No right answers. No wrong answers. Just your mood in colour today. Maybe it’s bright and bold. Maybe it’s soft and quiet. Maybe it changes by the hour. Drop your colour below 👇💛 Mine would be peaceful green 💚 I’ve been super busy in the garden today but it was so good for my soul 🤩
