@Elijah Ott Elijah, there are a couple of different paths you can go: - You can go to school and do this. - You can try to do it all on your own. I totally get not having enough time, but some of this stuff is just mandatory. You have to go get a DOT physical. That's gonna take an hour out of your day. You just need to find a small clinic somewhere that does it, and you don't have to go to a real doctor's office. I found a chiropractor that did mine. It took 15 minutes to do the physical. That part is done. You can download the CDL manual and start reading that yourself. If you need a practice test, I'll be happy to send you the one that I developed so you can do that on your own. You just have to make an appointment at your local Department of Motor Vehicles to go take that test. After you take that test, you get a commercial learner's permit. You have to wait 14 days before you can take a driver's test, which you can also do at your local DMV. There are two other steps in the process: - If you have to take a small course online, it takes about an hour. It's ELDP, I think. I did mine online. You can look it up. The cost is like $99. It's basically a quick overview of the CDL manual, so why they make you do that, I don't know, but you have to do it. - You have to set up. Well, at least I did, because I have to get a DOT. If you don't have to get a DOT because my equipment is heavy enough, I have to have a DOT. If you do that, you need to do that through the Department of Transportation. If you do have to get a DOT, you have to sign up for a drug consortium, which is random drug checks. If you don't have the DOT, you don't have to worry about that, but you need to check those requirements. After you do the ELDP class and wait your 14 days, you can go to your local DMV and take your equipment that you're going to test on. They will test you right there on the spot, so you can do this. The hard part's going to be the study-in, and the tricky part, from what I've been told by everyone I've talked to, is the pre-trip inspection. You really have to have that down.

@Elijah Ott Billy Malady • just now The DOT physical is so basic, vision test, diabetes test, basic mobility. The test has several parts which are US based but each state will have a small section. I cant imagine the rules are too different but some could be. there are schools, like CDLFast and may in your area that will teach you and you use their equipment. If you opt to do on your own, then you will need to rent or borrow equipment that match your license

@Michael Dennee This 270T is a little beast. It doesnt have the horsepower of those big 100Hp rigs but it also doesnt require DEF fuel which is costly and these machines suck it down. It does have 300 lbs of torque though. Basically, it's never going to be a bulldozer, but it's doing well for this. I also really like the side door. I can't imagine going back in the front again and crawling over all the accessories or the attachments. People talk about the one arm, but it's got a lifetime warranty on that one arm, and that one arm has 20% more steel than a standard two-arm machine. I've had no problem with it. I love it. It would be nice, though, to get the teleskid. just out of my range
