HOT TAKES - The film you HATE that everyone else LOVES
We all have that one movie we're scared to talk about, but always comes up. The one EVERYONE loves, but you secretly can't stand. What's yours and why? I'll go first -

Pulp Fiction!!! HATE IT. I'm supposed to root for two hitmen? And then in the second act, I'm rooting for the boxer Bruce Willis and now who cares that Travolta dies--no camera lingering on him, no grieving family members, just bang, you're dead! ? Third act, Travolta's alive again and the protagonist again. I swear Tarantino just wanted to show how easily audiences can be manipulated.

@Emily Slaughter Carver, glad you're gonna re-watch it. The film clearly is providing a parallel to how whites behaved toward the Indigenous people in this country and nearly wiped them out. Unlike all the Hollywood Westerns, which vilified "Indians", it is really telling the story from the perspective of the innocent people who have a different skin color and a different culture.
El Mariarchi
Been listening to the audiobook by Robert Rodriguez about the film he made for $7000, El Mariachi, which led to Hollywood studios fighting over him and the rights to the film. And discovered a show he did in which he goes into a lot of detail about the methods he uses for his low budget films. It's full of great ideas, especially the episode on "Coverage and Effects."
