Least used tool
My least used tool is an old brace and bit hand drill. This was my dad’s (and I think my grandpa’s before him). It is always hanging on the wall but I can’t remember the last time I used it!
🔧 What Tool Do You Have the Most Trouble Using? (Win $100 Gift Card!)
Some tools just don’t cooperate, no matter how much you practice. Maybe it’s that tricky hand plane that never cuts quite right, the table saw that always feels intimidating, or the tool you just can’t seem to get the hang of. Share the tool that gives you the most trouble — and why — in the comments below! 🏆 Prize: $100 Sawinery Gift Card (aka guilt-free tool money 😏) 📅 Winner announced on September 22!

It’s the hand plane (hands down). I would love to be able to shave off precise amounts from the surfaces of wood, but usually just end up chewing it up. I’m sure it’s a combination of blade sharpness and setup, but I just can’t seem to get it right.

@Dawn Cleofe Thank you!
Console Table
I built this walnut console table for our family room. It was my first time using mortise and tenon joints and I’m proud of the result!

Probably the largest project is 2 oak cabinets with glass doors. It was pretty satisfying to do my own design (learning a little bit about SketchUp), buying the lumber directly from the lumberyard, and building them.

@James Hancock it sounds like you need a bigger shop!

Lately it’s been my planer. It’s the first one I’ve had and it’s allowed me to go to the lumber yard and pick up some nice wood at an affordable price. It’s also nice to be able to plane several boards to the same thickness!
