Pet Loss
Dearest community, please forgive my 'MIA' the last couple of days. My most precious girl, Nala, has been in end of life care for the last year, and passed away yesterday afternoon in the safety of her home, in the arms of the person who loved her the most in the world. I'm trying to navigate the loss of the very best 'dog teacher', a behaviour student could ever have asked for - she taught me so much about boundaries, about deep-rooted behaviours, about dog-on-dog conflict, about food resource guarding, and so much more. But most importantly of all, she taught me that even a dog with significant behaviour and physical impairments, can be supported. Can be beautiful. Can be loving. Can be the best comfort in times of stress. I am utterly devastated. I am broken. So, I ask that you all please bare with me as I may be a little less active in this space over the next few days. If there's anything really important remember you can reach out to @Clare Hudson Hill or @Vanessa Barber - our HGA tutors. I intend to be back on track for our next Live check in on Monday.

Alternative to barbicide for cleaning scissors
I was just researching environmentally friendly alternatives for cleaning scissors. I found two products, On Nature's Side and Disicide, I wonders if anyone had experience of using these. Or any other suggestions…

@Stephanie Zikmann This would be my favourite but I wondered whether that would be ok on a health and safety level, whether environmental health accept natural cleaning method, or does it have to be more scientifically tested?

@Stephanie Zikmann thank you!
Round table Sessions ☕️
Our laidback round table events are just a way to connect fellow premium members and students, while also providing a safe space to share 🩷 This evenings was a very intimate session with only a few people inside, but despite this, it was lovely ☺️ We spoke about the course, we spoke about the pressures of being in the industry and imposter syndrome - I always forget how refreshing it is to spend time with people who truly GET IT. If you plan on joining us next month, we have decided to implement a dress code: funny tshirts to express how you’re feeling or your life right now 😂 It would be lovely to see ALL of our premium members and students there next time! 😀 To sign up for premium please click here. Good night all 😘

It was great to have the opportunity to speak with you both. Just what I needed to reconnect me with my goals! Thank you both
Should grooming sessions be timed? 🕰️
Dog Groomers: Have you ever felt pressurised to complete grooms within a specific time frame whether that be from your peers or your clients? Dog Guardians: Have you ever pressurised your groomer to complete a groom within a specific time frame?

I have had to unlearn timing a groom, as they teach you at college to work within specific timeframes. Now I am more likely to think about how the groom is going in terms of whether the dog needs breaks, or if they are going to tolerate a whole groom. I used to get cross with myself in terms of how long it might take to groom, but now I'm completely dog focused rather than focused on my skills to complete a perfect groom within a certain timeframe.
