Elianna, I love listening to you narrate!
Welcome, Mike!
Say hello to @Mike Selig ! He joined us last night on our call and had some great questions. He’s a soon to be retired plumber/business who is extremely motivated about getting into voiceover , and his can-do attitude is motivating ! Monday evening we’ll be going over Fiverr profiles starting with @Wesley Bryan , and answering other Fiverr (and freelance site questions) so be sure to pop in and say hello and introduce yourself to Mike

Welcome, Mike!
I love hearing accents from different places around the world, but…
I love being from the Deep South, but there is some truth here…😊

I told someone once I didn't have an accent. Then I said, "Yous guys." :-D By the way, I love your accent!
Balancing VO with life
I'm going to college this fall (yay!). It's an exciting time for me and my family. However, there are things I want to try to keep up with doing while I'm doing college. The problem is, my freshman year (and honestly, it could also apply for the years after) is going to be pretty busy and I'm unsure how much time I'll have for other things in my free time, including voice acting. I want to get a Youtube channel up and running soon, but even if I managed to get that up and did a little in the summer I may need to stop posting while I'm in school. Anyone have any tips for figuring this out? Should I make a list of priorities and cut off the not so important stuff? And does anyone have suggestions as far as doing stuff now instead of waiting till later go (I'm a SUPER bad procrastinator and need to figure out how to be more productive)?

@Alyssa Lewis Have you ever seen the awkward yeti cartoon? This is how Heart works. Brain has a hard time getting him to listen. It's, unfortunately, human nature. However, the good news is that we can always make a choice and train ourselves to choose differently. Sometimes, setting limits OR thinking through, "What do I want to accomplish more with these fifteen minutes I can't get back?" helps me make better decisions. At the end of the day, I'd much rather finish a project than watch an hour's-worth of Youtube.

So one thing that took me three years to learn (three!) was how to schedule my time without over-scheduling my time. Back then, I had a planner with hours written in it. (Now I don't because I'm working more based off of priorities, compared to a class schedule.) I would fill in my classes for the semester, and then I would sit down and look at all the projects I had to do. I would write them into my planner, too. So if I figured a project would take me two weeks, I would write it somewhere around the day when I needed to start doing it. If I had a lot of projects due at once (yes, of course), I would space them out in order to, say, get one done a week. That helped me avoid a crunch time. But the biggest thing that helped me, personally, was planning a flex time into every day. I usually had at least one spare hour sometime in the morning or early afternoon when I wasn't in class. And I usually had some free time in the evening. So instead of trying to plan every minute of the day, I learned to plan for those hours as flex hours. In other words, if I had written down that I needed to start a project, I would head to the library during my free hour and start in. But if a friend saw me and needed to talk (or I just wanted to), I would know that it was ok to do that. I would just have to head to the library in the evening and do my work then. Learning to plan my day without over-planning it allowed me to enjoy unexpected opportunities when they came up. And if I had done all my work during the day, I knew I could visit around or do something with my friends in the evening without feeling bad about it. I think the hardest thing is figuring out that you need to do projects ahead of time because they all come due within the same two-ish weeks. Or they seem to. It's a learning curve, prioritizing your time, but it's a process we all go through. Sometimes one method works better than another for certain people, so keep working at it and asking the Lord to help you find what'll best help you. And enjoy college! Enjoy the plays and the extra-curricular stuff! Enjoy making friends!
