January is National Hobby Month
Which means we get to talk about our favorite topic. At HobbyScool, we believe hobbies are more than pastimes — they’re powerful tools for creativity, clarity, and confidence. Some people use their hobbies to relax. Some to express themselves. Some to build businesses. All are valid. All matter. So I’m curious:What hobby has made the biggest impact on your life — creatively, emotionally, or even financially? Drop it in the comments 👇You might inspire someone else to finally start theirs.

@Lauren Parker I agree that knitting is super hard with young kids! I also knitted for several years as a younger adult to supplement my sewing, but it was yarn spaghetti once my oldest got mobile. I finally ended up giving away most of my yarn and needles last year, since I basically hadn’t done anything with it in nearly a decade. Some friends tried to teach me crochet, but it was too hard on my wrists (I’ve had carpal tunnel syndrome since college from badly managing my music practice time). So now I just hand sew things when I need a portable craft.

@Janet Hooper I’d love to hear more about the resin if you start! My 10 year old has been watching videos of people combining resin and polymer clay to make Minecraft scenes, and he wants to get into it so badly. He’s a crafty kid and we struggle to find more boy-friendly ideas, so I want to encourage him when he gets interested!
Hey everyone…excited to be here! 🥰
I’m Lauren, the head goofball behind Becoming JoyFULL. I’m a mom, a creative, and a big believer in building an intentional life. I love puzzles, cozy routines, and deep, meaningful conversations. In my work, I help kindhearted humans create more joy, clarity, and intention…without the hustle or pressure. I’ll be teaching “Small Acts, Big Goals: Visualize the Impact You’re Meant to Make” on Day 1 (Jan. 20) of the Creative Vision Retreat Summit, where we’ll explore a calm, creative way to get clarity and direction without forcing a big plan. I’m genuinely excited to be here with so many thoughtful, creative humans. This space already feels really special, and I can’t wait to learn alongside you all. 🥰 👉 Lastly, if you've made it this far, are you more of a planner, a dreamer, or a mix of both?

I think I'm a mix of both. I have bigger long-term dreams, like skills I want to develop or crafts I want to make. I spend a lot of my time making plans for things like household management and the kids' schooling (all on me, since we're homeschoolers.) Where I often struggle is the follow-through on the plans I do make, and making a plan for the things I dream about.

Hi, I’m Becky, from Delaware. My longest/deepest crafty love is sewing, I especially enjoy making clothes. (Including my wedding dress!) I also scrapbook, I used to do paper albums but switched to digital during the baby years. I’m currently trying to learn bookbinding, so I can rebind my falling apart paperbacks that were thrift store finds or childhood favorites. I recently bought a Cricut just for that reason, but suspect it’ll get used for other things as well.

I like to do more things than I have time to reasonably manage.
