The Importance of Leadership
When leading your team, what's your holy grail approach? Are you in the trenches with your team or do you allow your team to navigate the business without you most of the time? For me, it's a mix of both. I am always approachable if they need help, but I set expectations and boundaries. I want to see how they shine under pressure and how they handle hard situations (problem-solving). I don't believe in passive aggressive approaches so my communication is usually very upbeat, but also straight-forward if I notice anything that needs improvement. Praise is important to a team! As much as we want to keep order, we must recognize that without our team, the business wouldn't be as fruitful. I send them reviews we receive on Yelp and Google praising our food and services because it's not about me, it's about us all as a whole.
