editing tools
What tools do you use to edit your videos? Do you use an additional microphone? I have not invested any money to purchase filming/editing tools yet……I am new & frugal. :) However, I am open to learning….. please share your recommendations! I use Quick time player on my mac to record, then edit using iMovie.

The biggest bang for your Zero Dollars is Davinci resolve. It looks intimidating at first , but I had Gemini guide me through it. Tell Gemini which version on what platform you are using. Go into voice mode and it will tell you how to get an easy view. Then you can tell Gemini what you want to do and it will guide you step by step and which button to press. How to do an effective editing workflow. Capcut has an issue : it has the right to use all your material- republish , remix etc. And you run into payment walls very quickly. With davinci you can start small (with the help of Gemini) and scale quite a while in features until you have to purchase it. But even if you decided tor another application, try Gemini as your personal assistant. I also used it for helping with Blackmagic camera, which is great for filming with your smartphone
Just started an Astronomy channel 3 days ago! Could you check my accent and give some honest feedback?
Hey everyone, I launched a new YouTube channel in the Astronomy niche just 3 days ago. Since my target audience is primarily in the US and Western countries, I want to make sure my voiceover is clear and easy to follow. Could you take a quick look at one of my videos and let me know if my accent is easy to understand? I would also highly appreciate any harsh critiques or advice on how I can improve the video quality, pacing, or storytelling. Thank you so much for your time!

I would not use a whiteboard and talk to the board and draw on it. I would use an animated presentation where you are on one side and the presentation on the other. And then the animation develops the picture. Alexa uses that in some of her videos. The other thing I have seen is people doing a screen share and their face is in a small circle on the side. They start with a full picture of themselves when they start and then screen share the presentation.
Still confuse
I am still confused about what I should be filming about. I think I just have to start something until I find myself?

Find something you are passionate about. Something you love talking about. It could be something you would like to show people how to do , something you have experienced and you want your younger self to get through. I would also recommend taking Alexa’s course on choosing a niche. You can also tell Gemini or Claude or ChatGPT to be your YouTube consultant. Ask them to interview you so that you can find your niche and avatar (the person you are talking to in your videos). Once you’ve discovered your avatar, you can discuss with Claude /gpt/ Gemini which transformations this avatar should go through. In that discussion AI can give you some suggestions what video topics you could do. There is even a mode where you can just talk to AI. Gemini works very well with that on your mobile. It helped me develop the first series of videos that I could make. AI does not do the thinking, but it is a great discussion partner. Alexa also has a video on how she uses AI to generate ideas into videos. You can use that structure to discuss your niche and avatar finding. https://youtu.be/9X9-p0stWOA?is=fpDYC1ZqkZLJFpTA
Hello to All of you ☺️
My name is Sirit and I am from Austria. My Channel is in german, but I still wanted to be in this community because I found Alexa a few weeks ago and find her so inspiring and authentic and I want to learn a great deal here. I also hope for some meaningful connections and community and maybe even some people who speak german and can understand my channel...we`ll see 😅 Happy to be here, Sirit 🌸

Hi Sirit, Welcome ! My channel is in German too. I still have to post my first video. I was experimenting with AI helping to make a script. It took me quite a while to find out how AI can help , and how much I have to just do with pencil and paper.

@Sirit Albel that is a great idea. I watched the video again to get the details. I also use this structure to check the script. What I really like is using Gemini to interactively discuss the ideas of a video. I talk into Gemini and it asks me questions. Afterwards it builds a structure. I take that into Claude which is better in writing. Claude then refines the concept. At the end I only use the hook and the last sentences- the rest I use bullet points.
Would You Like a Preview of the Creators Sidekick App I'm Building
Hi Brains Trust, As you probably know by now I'm building the Creators Sidekick App for YT Creators and am wondering whether you would like a preview of the app built to date. Please note: the app is still not finished however, a lot of the tools are in place. If you are interested in a behind the scenes looksee, I'm happy to set up a Google Meet and share the link in this chat. I'm so excited with how the app is coming along. Penny for your thoughts. (PS As I live in Aussie Land I"m a tad bit unsure what the time zones will be like. However I could set it up for say evening New York time as I'm a relatively night owl type of person.) UPDATE: Thank you all for being interested in participating in a live preview of the Creators Sidekick app developed thus far. I've now set the date. Tuesday 16th June 2026 8.30PM for USA creators and 7.30pm for Texas ; Ontario Canada is I think around 8.30pm which is Wednesday 17th June 2026 10.30am for Aussie (WA 8.30am). Because of a creator's request to record the preview, I've set up a 14 day free trial with Google Workspace. Hence, yea, will be able to record the meeting.
