Competition Choreo and Character Work Chat!
I have been watching a lot old videos and making lists of things to put in a choreo. And also finding some old gems I forgot all about! How about y'all? Wouldn't it be fun if we all got together, brainstorm some magic, look at outfit inspo, and "digitally mood board" our pieces together?

I’ve been really inspired by shapes and poses I’ve seen in Latin Dance so I wanna have them in the routine .

@Sara Kelly my thoughts exactly! I want it to have the vibe of dancing with the pole like it’s a person rather than an apparatus…. Don’t really know what that will mean exactly but I’m glad you see the vision!
Our 1st Aerial Flow Tutorial!
Behold, our first long-form tutorial! This one covers static & spin exploration of a three part flow involving: - Aerial Rond de Jambe (shout out to @Sara Kelly for helping me identify the ballet term for that move!) - Pole Sit - Hello Boys or Violator (both work in this combo) I encourage you to share videos here in the comments of what this tutorial inspires you to do! Remember, the goal is not to be a carbon copy of me, but to take what I share for a ride and see how your body/movement needs fine tune it into something that feels delicious for you! Let the inspiration FLOW!!!

I literally wrote down this morning "what can you learn if you try this on the ground" and you read my mind! And went backwards!! Going to class tomorrow and will work on this :D
Who is your Pole/Movement Idol?!
What artist(s) do you aspire to be like when you grow up?! I'll go first! This is Michelle Stanek, and this performance had a profound impact on my understanding of what Pole can be, back in 2012, when I was a wee little pole cub. I had only been introduced to the fitness side of Pole until I saw THIS! The details in her shapes... How she leaves no musical accent left un-danced... The energy oozing out of her.... The character/story.... SWOOON!!! I was on the edge of my seat and in awe watching her and ever since I've aspired to deliver that same experience to my audience when I hit the stage. Tell us about yours!!

I was a big fan of Alethea Austin when I first started dancing. Now you know why I like big lines in heels! More recently I have been looking at mainstream dancers for inspo - currently really love Melissa Barlow, Galen Hooks, and Aliya Janell. I watch this video at least 3 times a week for my mental health lol

Another favorite of mine is Suen Lee!! She can do AMAZING clocks and leg shapes at any height and angle
PSO Southwest Board!
I've created a separate tab for all things PSO Southwest! I will focus all PSO related posts here and YOU are encouraged to make posts as well if you want to share or ask anything! As we get closer to the competition day, I imagine this tab will get busy!! Full PSO Southwest Event Packet ATTACHED HERE for your convenience! So, where are you at with your competition considerations/training? Have you registered to compete? Decided your Category & Division? Picked your song? Found your outfit? Narrowed down the moves you'd like to showcase?! Let's talk about it!

Competition Season?!👀
It's been brought to my attention that Pole Sport Organization's (PSO) 2026 Southwest Competition is happening in Dallas, TX on August 1st! The registration deadline is June 1st which leaves us a good amount of time to get familiar with the 5 different skill levels and performance style categories, then consider which ones best suite you so you can decide if you're interested in competing! The best thing about PSO is it's accessible for ALL skill levels! We will do a deep dive on this soon so stay with me if you're curious! There's also opportunity to perform without being judged/ranked, and they'll need volunteers which is a great way to gain access to supporting your friends! I've participated in lots of PSO events. I've won some medals, built winning routines with students who concurred what they once thought was impossible, and served as a judge and PSO ambassador. The full event packet is attached below, but also LETS TALK ABOUT IT! Would you consider competing?!

@Amanda Grant I’ve never felt like PSO really matched my style, but I did notice there is an After Dark division for the Dallas date so……..

@Amanda Grant do you have any insider knowledge on how these categories came to be by any chance? I am really conflicted because I’ve had whoreophobic experiences the last time I prepared for PSO , and that was before the after dark series… so I dunno if it’s done with good intentions or if it’s more like an appropriation issue. This is probably a bigger discussion elsewhere, but this is actually one of the biggest worries in my noggin when thinking about pole in general -participating with pole organizations sounds really fun, but is it gonna make me feel icky later ? If it was me, I feel like I’d go for the DTF one or the Shadowbanned one As someone who has had 8 Instagram accounts deleted for TOS rule breaking, I think I should be qualified 🤣
