Competition Choreo and Character Work Chat!
I have been watching a lot old videos and making lists of things to put in a choreo. And also finding some old gems I forgot all about! How about y'all? Wouldn't it be fun if we all got together, brainstorm some magic, look at outfit inspo, and "digitally mood board" our pieces together?

@Lindsay Sutton This happens! TBH, anytime i find a song way before the performance date, I always end up falling for another song or losing the connection I had to it. Changing your song choice is no biggie!

@Audi LiketheCar Yes, I am totes open to modifying the time and intended use of the Happy Hour time as our use of this space evolves :)
MINI TUTORIAL #2
If your air walk feels CLUNKY, watch this. This mini tutorial covers 1) Technique you can FEEL! How to engage straight knees (NO microbends!) and pointed toes. 2) How to coordinate an elegant airwalk! Drill this exercise and comment with a video of your new and improved airwalk on the Pole!!

@Lindsay Sutton tell me more about these efforts to be light of foot. You trying to make the air walk floaty? Very technical terms ๐Ÿคช

@Lindsay Sutton Ah, youโ€™re speaking to how it looks like my feet are gliding across an invisible surface! Focus on squeezing the quads hard to energetically lock the knee straight while the straight leg moves back. It LOOKS floaty but dont confuse the illusion with a lack of hard muscle engagement. I imagine this concept is harder to understand via text vs a physical demo. Lmk if youโ€™d benefit from a quick video explanation. I can do that, easy peasy!
Our 1st Aerial Flow Tutorial!
Behold, our first long-form tutorial! This one covers static & spin exploration of a three part flow involving: - Aerial Rond de Jambe (shout out to @Sara Kelly for helping me identify the ballet term for that move!) - Pole Sit - Hello Boys or Violator (both work in this combo) I encourage you to share videos here in the comments of what this tutorial inspires you to do! Remember, the goal is not to be a carbon copy of me, but to take what I share for a ride and see how your body/movement needs fine tune it into something that feels delicious for you! Let the inspiration FLOW!!!

@Audi LiketheCar ๐Ÿ˜‚ I was likeโ€ฆ I gotta address this.
Who is your Pole/Movement Idol?!
What artist(s) do you aspire to be like when you grow up?! I'll go first! This is Michelle Stanek, and this performance had a profound impact on my understanding of what Pole can be, back in 2012, when I was a wee little pole cub. I had only been introduced to the fitness side of Pole until I saw THIS! The details in her shapes... How she leaves no musical accent left un-danced... The energy oozing out of her.... The character/story.... SWOOON!!! I was on the edge of my seat and in awe watching her and ever since I've aspired to deliver that same experience to my audience when I hit the stage. Tell us about yours!!

@Lindsay Sutton Doubles are a blast but it takes a LOT of work to get the precision that these girlies have. Great find!! Fun Fact, in 2018 I placed 2nd in Colorado Pole Championships in the Doubles Division! My partner was almost 50 and she'd only been dancing for 6 months at the the time of competition. She had basically JUST started Pole when we drank too much wine and applied to compete. Somehow we got in and the rest is history. ๐Ÿ˜… I'm really proud of this piece though.

PSO Southwest Board!
I've created a separate tab for all things PSO Southwest! I will focus all PSO related posts here and YOU are encouraged to make posts as well if you want to share or ask anything! As we get closer to the competition day, I imagine this tab will get busy!! Full PSO Southwest Event Packet ATTACHED HERE for your convenience! So, where are you at with your competition considerations/training? Have you registered to compete? Decided your Category & Division? Picked your song? Found your outfit? Narrowed down the moves you'd like to showcase?! Let's talk about it!
