Scammed on Etsy
Has anyone successfully appealed an Etsy case decision? I recently had a buyer open a “not as described” case over a wall art print. The unusual part is that the buyer originally sent me a photo of the artwork which appeared consistent with the listing images. After the case was opened, a second photo was submitted which looked dramatically different in colour and saturation from the original photo. During the case, Etsy asked the buyer to either return the item or provide additional photographs. The buyer did neither. I offered a full refund upon return, provided a return address, and also offered a goodwill partial refund. The buyer declined to return the item due to the cost of return shipping. The buyer also made comments about damaging my business reputation, which Etsy acknowledged during the case. Despite this, Etsy refunded the buyer and charged the refund to my account, while the buyer kept the item. I’m trying to understand whether there is any realistic appeal process for situations like this, and whether anyone has had success getting Etsy to review a decision where the evidence provided by the buyer was inconsistent. Would appreciate any advice from other sellers who have experienced something similar.

@Mihai Volintiriu I didn’t refund them, the original Etsy case mediator didn’t refund them too. They closed the case once she didn’t upload a tracking number in time, she then reopened the case and continued complaining, then another agent refunded her. Which is really confusing

@Mihai Volintiriu I have submitted a case appeal, hopefully they can refund me back. She also threatened me like this so if she leaves a 1 star review, would I be able to remove get it removed?
Don't doubt yourself, keep going! 🤩
Just wanted to encourage those who may doubt themselves during this journey. Success can happen if you focus on building your shop with listings and great customer service. I started in September last year and currently have over 1k sales (including my website). PrintShrimp has been a key factor in delivering quality products and customer satisfaction! 🚀

Congratulations! How do you market your website?
Is AI art becoming too saturated?
Hi everyone, I’m looking for some honest thoughts from people who sell digital products, printable art, or AI-assisted designs on Etsy. Do you think AI art on Etsy still has long-term potential, or is it becoming too saturated? I’m also wondering whether the next generation of buyers may start avoiding AI-generated art, either because it feels less authentic, too common, or because they prefer human-made/handmade work. For anyone selling in this space, what would you focus on now? Would you lean more into personalization, bundles, physical products, templates, stronger branding, human-edited designs, or moving into a different niche altogether? I’d appreciate any honest opinions from people who have seen trends rise and fall on Etsy

@Samantha White yeah that’s what I thought too, as not everyone can afford handmade art. However, it’s the awareness of AI recently and a lot of people are not fond of it, but yeah not much to worry now. The only problem with being in a unsaturated market is how long will it remain that way haha, I guess it’s just always going to evolve

@Samantha White well that’s reassuring, if you bought that then I don’t have to worry anymore hahaha
Stolen Designs...
Is there anything you can do when someone steals your design? I did use AI to create it, but it was originally created by me. I've found two other sellers with exactly the same design, is it worth reporting to Etsy?

@Mihai Volintiriu what if they submit a takedown after seeing your message
I've been scammed!
So! I've just been conned! £490! As a person, I feel miserable! As a "businessman" I feel stupid and As a "newbie" I have lost confidence in the Etsy platform! However, I have learnt a massive lesson! Don't get excited about the "sale" and start pressing buttons! Ok, so this morning I received a message from "Matt" saying that he had bought one of my posters, with a link to set up payments. This is the scam! Looking at it now, I should have known that anyone asking how much you have in your account, isn't Etsy! But, I'm new, I was excited and I have no idea how Etsy works! Be careful guys! There are some horrible people out there!
I've been scammed!

@Stuart McKie the url gives it away that you’re leaving Etsy, what exactly did they do after that? Did they withdraw your balance?
