I wanted to share something I’ve just taken part in, in case it resonates with anyone else. It’s called Post SEND — a quiet, anonymous project inviting people connected to SEND to send a short reflection by post about what SEND has meant to them. There’s no online submission, no paperwork, and no expectation to share your whole story. First name only. Share only what feels safe. ---------------------------- I’ll share what I wrote, as an example of the kind of thing they’re asking for: My name is Ellie. I’m connected to SEND as a parent. SEND, for me, has meant learning that behaviour is communication, that overwhelm isn’t defiance, and that regulation comes before expectation. It’s meant unlearning what I was taught about “coping” and relearning how to listen — to my children and to my own nervous system. SEND has been exhausting, isolating, and often invisible. But it has also made me slower, more observant, and more compassionate than I ever was before. I’m still learning. Mostly, I’m learning that none of us were broken — we were just unsupported. ------------------------------ I’m sharing this not to ask anyone to explain themselves, but to let you know the option exists. So today I have a job interview for Lunchtime supervisor. I don't necessarily need this job but it has some benefits in the sense I get extra wage, it is near to home - it is at my daughter's school so being ND it encourages her to go and helps with her anxiety.
