Thursday's Meeting: Aaron's Proposal
Aaron Martin will be in the hotseat on Thursday. Attached is his newest proposal of services. It would be great if you could review it before the meeting.

I still have a recurring conflict for the Thursday FEC meetings that I have not managed to resolve. It should sort itself out in the next few weeks. Hoping to be more of an active contributor to those. On the flip side, I have been trying to recommend new and aspiring fractionals to join this community, and while I was doing it erratically before, it is now on my checklist of things to recommend to new Fractionals!

@Audrey Douglas Thanks for sharing. I am seeing the 2 month free trial still active. I mentioned on a different thread that I had let my Premium subscription expire, and now I am debating between trying Sales Navigator and the All-In-One Premium Plan. Any thoughts?

@Audrey Douglas I am trying out the 2 month free period (and thank you so much for making it possible). I will evaluate at the end of the trial period if it is worth continuing or switching to something else. But I agree with your sentiment of InMail vs. other connection methods. I think LinkedIn themselves are to blame for devaluing the platform. But it still is the largest network.
Subscriptions to live by
I have a question for our community here. As independents and fractional business owners I am sure you are watching expenses and what subscriptions you are paying monthly and annually for. I have tried to be very diligent in tracking subscriptions, and I always maintain a "lapse list" - certain subscriptions that I am willing to let expire and then see what falls apart. Others can never be allowed to lapse (for example the subscriptions keeping my website and email online). What are some tools and subscriptions you absolutely swear by? What are the ones you'll want to cut first when it's time to tighten purse strings? For me the critical ones are: 1) Google workspace (for my domain, email, and some of the AI stuff) 2) Google One (Cloud backup of critical information) 3) Cellphone plans Ones that I am using but don't consider critical at the moment: 4) Claude 5) Gamma.app (built most of my original collateral on it, but looking at phasing it out) 6) RedZone (this is a new and specific one that a marketing team I have engaged requires, if you are interested I can discuss this more) Ones that I am toying with letting lapse: 7) Zoom premium Ones that I have let expire: 8) Fireflies.ai 9) LinkedIn Premium (but will probably reinstate) I am sure there are other things I am missing. Also this is not necessarily ALL my operational expenses, I also have budgets for AI API usage across different platforms. But I am trying to keep subscriptions lean.

@Sherrii Webb I am planning to; it is a bit of a tradeoff because Claude tokens burn pretty fast on design, but there are other options.

@Bill Ennis The one subscription to rule them (or track them) all!
"Pick Your Brain"??
A business owner asks you for a quick 30-minute, "Just to pick your brain" call. (Or offers to take you to lunch.) No scope, no intro call, just advice. What do you do?

I am a fast eater but "30 minute lunch" is probably challenging 🤣 More seriously though, I would always want to be helpful and make sure my contact finds me accessible. Like @Aaron Martin said above, it is unlikely I will solve their problem in 30 minutes, but I would want to be prepared to demonstrate enough clarity that they think another longer conversation is warranted. The flip side: I know people who are indecisive, and are unlikely to make up their minds after a dozen "30 minute" conversations. That is where I'd fall back on the consulting panacea of "it depends". Things I would try: 1) Ask for a little context. Maybe remind them what we have discussed before, and ask what is different? 2) Invite them to a group session, like the Executive Round Tables that I host 3) Direct them to a resource that might help them along without burning more mutual time.
Restarting our LinkedIn Engagement Group
A few weeks ago, I reviewed our LinkedIn engagement list and removed members who were no longer publishing original posts at least once a week. This week, I completed another review and found that very few members on the current list are consistently supporting the other participants. The purpose of this group is mutual support. It only works when everyone follows through on the commitment to visit the other members’ profiles, like their posts, and leave thoughtful comments each week. This group is specifically for members who publish original LinkedIn posts approximately once a week or more. Reposts do not count as original content for participation in the group. Because the current list is no longer functioning as intended, I am closing it and starting fresh. I will post a new sign-up shortly for members who are actively publishing original LinkedIn posts and are genuinely prepared to complete the weekly engagement sweep. There are no hard feelings if this no longer fits your schedule. You will always be welcome to join again when you are posting original content regularly and are able to participate consistently.

@Shirley Cress Dudley I was not part of the previous LinkedIn engagement group and I had not been posting on LinkedIn for a while. I will restart soon, for specific reasons it will probably be in a couple of weeks. Please consider me for the group. I will post my LinkedIn link on the July/August group once I get back in.

In the July-August engagement group I am not connected to everyone yet. I have sent out connection requests to everyone (and thanks to everyone who accepted). I am going through and commenting where I can find recent posts. I have let LinkedIn Premium expire (at least for the moment), so I can not send intro notes when requesting connections.
