Minor City / Town vs Major City
I've heard Sartain say that creating a 'scene' in a small or medium city / town has its advantages because there's less competition. However my hometown in the UK, despite being considered a medium sized city, falls in the shadow of a much larger city only 20 miles away. For perspective, the US equivalent would probably be Oakland and San Francisco or Baltimore and Washington DC. Therefore a lot of the natural high status opportunities accumulate in the major city. The high status clubs, bars and restaurants tend to be in the major city. My hometown isn't completely bad but a lot the local funding and investment into new businesses tends to gravitate in the major city. On top of that London tends to be the hub for anything UK centric anyway. Do I focus my efforts on the major city / London or do I persist with my hometown?
