Guys, how do I beat him?
I'm wearing a black uniform and helmet. He is one of the strongest young men in our gym, he has been practicing MMA for many years. In this sparring, I was only defending myself, because he works as a counterpuncher and he responds to every attack I make with a series. I want to interrupt him with my hands, when I use my legs it's much easier for me because I can control the distance better and interrupt his lunges with front kicks. In the end, I tried to counterattack too, but he easily defended himself from everything. the wrestling option disappears immediately, because his grappling and takedown protection are much better.

@Shea Hammond He gave up almost immediately. This video is about 2-3 months old. I'm currently attending additional grappling training, and my skills have significantly improved as a result. In the video, you can see that I was a bit flustered after the takedown, but that's not the case anymore.

My name is Arseny. I've been practicing mixed martial arts for six months since I moved to Moscow. Before that, I was a four-year sambo player. My goal is to improve my striking technique and work on takedowns to participate in local competitions

@Shea Hammond I believe that sambo is not the best base for MMA. The main problem is that sambo uses a kimono, and 70% of the techniques involve grabbing the opponent's upper body. In MMA, these two factors are fatal, as you cannot properly grab your opponent. Russia has a strong school of freestyle wrestling, so we are taught various techniques for attacking the legs. While these techniques are effective, I find them challenging due to my height. another problem is that sambo has very weak grappling because the main idea is to make a throw that (90% of the time) will put you in a side control position, where you will perform a submission. Sambo has no positional play and the defense against chokes is very poor. The guys from Dagestan are so good mostly not because of sambo, but because of their freestyle wrestling skills. (I used a translator, so there may be errors)
