Do our actions really make a difference?
This morning Arnie and I discussed Proverbs 3:18-35 which covers so many of these different ideas around how we should walk out life and hold different things in tension. It talks about how God founded the earth through wisdom, it talks about the destruction of the wicked, it talks about trusting in the Lord, humility, and taking action. Verse 25 -27 says: You need not be afraid of sudden disaster or the destruction that comes upon the wicked, for the Lord is your security. He will keep your foot from being caught in a trap." Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when its in your power to help them. Even these 3 verses hold some real keys for us 1) Dont be afraid of sudden disaster 2) Trust the Lord and make him your security 3) Dont just sit back and be passive, we are actually called to be a light and to take action no matter whats going on around us. God has called us to steward what he's given us, and be a light to the world around us. What's one thing you want to take action on this week?

Those are great steps Josh. I've made a start on a book of my life stories that this week I want to make some good progress on.

Where there is life there is mess
The other week on the tuesday morning call, @Lee Gordon shared something really profound. You find order in a graveyard, and mess in a childs nursery. Where there is life there is mess." This week been has been so "messy." Surprise doctors visits, my sons birthday party, organising and having our 10 year vow renewal and now we are rapidly preparing for a 4 day sailing trip. Its all great stuff, but in the chaos and bussyness of family life things can get missed (like totally forgetting about our morning call this morning - sorry guys!) I think one of the biggest challenges of being a dad is being gracious to ourselves when we accidentally drop the ball in the midst of the mess. Having to self reflect on how to do better next time without self hating ourselves. What are some strategies you use to walk through the mess of family life?

To be as willing to forgive myself as I am willing to forgive others.
Fitness Fridays: You dont have to be great to start...
Hey fathers, On Fridays I thought it would be really cool to celebrate and encourage each other with our fitness. The goal is to build each other up, so whether you've had a busy week and haven't managed to do anything, or whether you've nailed it lets just be honest, share, and cheer one another on together. Encouraging Quote: "You dont have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great" Question: Did you manage to start this week?

Still in Ausy. Have been going to the gym with our daughter and son in law 3 or 4 mornings a week. I booked one session with a coach when we first came who gave me a routine for the home gym so I can use it all when we get home. Flying back to NZ tomorrow. It's been a very special time over here for me and Therese with each other and with our family.

Looking for Feedback on call notes
Hey guys, Im just looking for feedback on what to do with the call notes. As you know we arent going to be recording the calls anymore so that we can be more vulnerable. However, I am aware that so much gold is shared on these calls and was wondering if you guys would like me to summarise the key points we discuss without giving away any sensitive details, so that if anyone misses the call they can at least catch up on the key topics in the classroom? I have revamped the call notes to make it way more helpful and father friendly, can you check them out and give me some feedback here. Go to courses, then Weekly Wisdom and check out the new modificaitons.

Yes found it Josh. The format is great. I like that the privacy of the talk is still held but the notes after are keeping the important points.
