Is anyone else feeling like clients expect you to know EVERY AI tool now? 😅
I had a call today and they kept mentioning tools I’ve never even heard of. Made me feel kinda behind tbh. How do you guys decide what’s actually worth learning vs just hype?

Yes absolutely this 😩 I had a client ask me last week if I knew a tool I'd never even seen mentioned before and I just said "I'm familiar with it" and then spent the next hour googling it in a panic 😅 I feel like there's a new tool every single week and I genuinely don't know how anyone keeps up. I don't even have a good answer for how I decide what to learn I just kind of learn whatever a client mentions because I'm scared to say I don't know it. really curious how people with more experience filter through what's actually worth the time.
Start selling results - Not time
Just closed a $2k/month retainer after restructuring my offer around outcomes instead of tasks. same amount of work i was doing before for $800. the shift is real — stop selling time, start selling results

This is the kind of post that makes me realise how differently I've been thinking about my whole offer 😞 I've been listing out every task I do in my proposals like "email management, calendar scheduling, research" and wondering why clients haggle on price. I never once thought about framing it around what the client actually gets at the end. genuinely don't even know where to start with rewording my offer this way did you completely rewrite your proposal or was it more about how you talked about your services in calls?
Quick tip for anyone overwhelmed with AI tools: stop trying to learn everything at once.
Pick ONE workflow and get really good at it. For example:Client inbox → summarize → draft replies → schedule That alone can make you valuable. Most clients don’t care what tool you use, they care that things get done efficiently. Master simple > chase shiny tools.

Okay this is genuinely the most useful thing I've read this week 😅 I've been feeling so behind because I keep seeing people talk about tools I've never even heard of and I thought I needed to know all of them to be taken seriously as a VA. the inbox workflow example you gave is actually something I'm already doing for one of my clients I just never thought of it as a "skill" I could properly own and sell. I think I've been undervaluing what I already know because I was so focused on what I don't know yet. thank you for this, genuinely needed the reminder.
Just realised I've been doing free discovery calls that last over an hour.
Had three of them this month and didn't land a single one 😞 like I'm spending all this time explaining everything I do, answering every question, basically giving a free consultation and then they just disappear. I don't even know if I'm pitching wrong or if the people I'm talking to were never serious to begin with. should discovery calls even be free? how long should they actually be? I feel like I've been doing this completely wrong and nobody told me 😅 would love to know how you guys structure yours because mine is clearly not working
For anyone who's raised their rates what was the moment you realised you were undercharging?
Mine was seeing someone in a Facebook group post their rate for the exact same services I was offering and it was literally double what I was charging. same deliverables, same turnaround, just way more confidence in how they positioned it. I'd been telling myself my rate was "competitive" but really I was just scared. started tracking my hours properly around that time and realised one of my retainer clients was costing me more time than the rate made sense for. raised it the next month and she didn't even hesitate. curious what the wake-up moment was for other people was it seeing someone else's rate, a client comment, or just finally doing the math?

Honestly still in the middle of this realisation right now 😅 I haven't raised my rate yet but the moment that's been sitting with me is when a client referred me to someone and said "she's really affordable" and I just smiled and said thank you. but afterwards I couldn't stop thinking about it. affordable isn't really what I want to be known for. I know I'm undercharging, I can feel it, I just haven't worked up the nerve to do anything about it yet. posts like this are genuinely helping me get closer to actually doing it though so thank you for sharing
