What fascinates me most about fishing is that you never know what will happen with the next cast. 🎣 Sometimes you wait for hours and come up empty-handed, while at other times, just a few minutes can turn into the most memorable moment of the entire day. After fishing for so long, I’ve come to realize that experience matters far more than gear. If you could recommend just one place where you’ve had an unforgettable fishing experience, where would it be? And why?

West Matagorda Bay Thanksgiving Day 2005. Found birds working a huge school of 18" plus trout with reds blended in. These fish were in 2' of water between Mad Island Reef and Shell Island Reef. At the time trout limits were 10 fish. I quickly limited out with the smallest fish being 17" and also ended up with my limit of reds. This school was very unique because it would not break up despite me putting so much pressure on it and the birds never stopped humping. One of the most awesome parts to this day was the fact that I ended up pulling three flounder as well which I'm sure we're just at the right place at the right time as I was chasing the school of fish. Another very unique thing that happened was the school did not move very far and I stayed on that school for an hour and a half and it stayed within a football field size area. Shrimp were jumping in my skiff getting chased by trout.

@Chris Skrobarczyk indeed it will. I know you've boated quite a few on Caroline as well. I still remember the one in Pure Oil Channel that came from under the boat to swallow your plum/chartreuse sassin. That is a memory I will never forget.

@Chris Skrobarczyk I never took her south of Bird Island. But as you know she's been in every bay from Sabine Lake to the Laguna Madre. She spent a lot of time in Matagorda and POC. You were I think with me everywhere except Galveston but we drove and waded all that. Wait maybe we did go to San Luis Pass in Caroline too. Hard to remember. You know I fished every Saturday for 2.5 years straight rain, sleet or snow including the time it snowed in Matagorda
