Tuners
Now that we have established what brands of basses we all are using, what are you using for tuners? I'm using a korg digital tuner, before this I had a fender tuner app on my phone. Was thinking about a clip on tuner. Anyone use these?

Hello. I have a korg rack mount tuner and snark clip on. Have a built in tuner in my Zoom b6 floor effects pedal.
Flats vs Roundwound
I tried playing a bass with flats on it at the guitar shop the other day and I'm considering getting a set but can't decide which bass I want to put it on. After selling my Squier CV 60s P today, I'm left with my TRBX304, a Fender J, The ESP LTD fretless I'm getting in 2 weeks, or the PJ kit/parts I'm building. Any suggestions? Someone suggested to me to put flats on the fretless but... It will most likely be my main player and I don't know if flats will give the punch for some of the varieties of music I want to learn. Not to mention strings aren't cheap. TIA for help

Hello. Flatwounds are kind of needed on the fretless so you can slide your fingers easily up and down the neck. Fretted you can go either way but experiment. Move your strings around. Have you ever put a low B string on a 4 string bass ?

@Darren Robinson oh ok. The low b string is a nice thumb rest to use and allows you to move your hand from the neck down to the bridge giving you more areas to explore with the fingers. Don't fear the 5 string :)
Bass Brands
I'm curious to know which brands of bass everyone is using and is it 4 or 5 strings? I'll start, my main bass, the one I play the most, practice on, have my lessons on is a 4 string Fender Jazz Bass. I also have 2 yamaha basses, a black motion-b short scale bass, and a new active bass I'd like to sell. I kicked it off please chime in. I'd like to know what you use are using.

@Mike Burkhart hello. I play on the jazz bass and now the p bass 4 string. I don't play the 5 as much as I usually don't need the low b string. It's nice to pick up now and again for a change. :)

@Shawn Xurvein true. I started with an Ibanez combo amp 35 watt and I still use it for quieter practice. You can do alot with minimal gear.

I've been playing bass for 20 years on and off. I love classic rock 80s . Love Fender and Warwick axes, the Police and the Rolling Stones.
