🎤 Muso Question of the Week.
Firstly, a big thank you to the OG members who've joined while this place is still brand new. It's great to have you here, and I'm hoping we can build this into a genuinely useful community for working and aspiring gigging musicians. There are already decades of experience between the people in here, so hopefully this becomes a place where we can share what we've learned, help each other out, have a laugh at the ridiculous side of gigging, and maybe save each other from learning EVERYTHING the hard way. So, to get things rolling... What's ONE thing you know about gigging now that you wish someone had told you when you started?

I wish someone had told me to start ten years before I did!
Current gigging gear
Hey gang! I was just curious what is the current gigging gear that you are using. Are you using pedals? Do you have your own portable PA? What guitar(s)? etc. Here is my gear: I am trying to keep things real simple... Guitar: Taylor 214ce Deluxe in Sunburst Pedal: TC Helicon Harmony Singer 2 PA: Harbinger MLS1000 Mic: Shure SM58 (Back-up Shure Beta 58) I have been toying with the idea of adding a Beat Buddy or maybe a simple kick drum pedal. Your turn...

I am purely a vocalist using backing tracks, although I do play a Telecaster but not live. I use a Peavey PA - two passive speakers from the amp, plus a monitor speaker in front of me. I use a Boss VE 20 to add a little reverb, an SM 58, with an extra one in the bag as backup. I use tracks mainly from Karaoke Version and play them through an app called Easy Performer from an Ipad (just to control playback, I have all the lyrics in my head) that I fix to the mic stand. I have three lights to give a bit of presence on the stage. I do covers mainly from the 60´s and 70´s, currently have around 150 songs in the rep and use them as I need them depending on the audience.
Good initiative
Great that you have created this community. I am sure that we can all benefit from each others experience and knowledge, and share the ups and downs of solo gigging. Well done Tod.
