It's crazy out there. If you are looking for a PM role, you've probably noticed how difficult it is to secure a role. I myself have been through multiple interviews with multiple stages and here are the things I'm seeing: - 100% remote is harder to come across, hybrid is more normal (2-3 days in the office) - A few rounds of interviews (I'm seeing between 2-3 become normal) - Proof of work is becoming more important and using the STAR method to explain your experience is a must - Rates are not as high as they were this time last year - Many permanent staff have been laid off so companies are hiring freelancers to fill in the gaps (summer holidays is also a reason freelancers are being called in) - Leadership positions are less common than mid to senior level - AI experience gives you an edge (its not a must but it definitely helps) - With the rise of AI soft skills are becoming extremely important (client facing, how you deal with account managers, how you work with development teams internally and off-shore) With how difficult it is out there, we need all the support we can get, I'm going to start running more sessions around what I'm seeing, how to get yourself to stand out, how to become more confident, how to use AI, how to become more comfortable speaking to leadership and more.
