When governance fails, leadership begins
A recent production issue reminded me what leadership actually looks like. It caused disruption for the client’s internal team for a few hours. Not a full outage. But serious enough. What mattered most wasn’t the technical detail. It was how we responded. We moved quickly. We gathered facts. We owned it. We spoke to the client the same day. And the relationship wasn’t damaged. There’s a difference between governance and leadership. Governance is the framework. Leadership is what shows up when the framework fails. In this week’s newsletter, I break down: - What actually went wrong - Where process discipline slipped - The exact steps we took internally - How to communicate under pressure without damaging trust - And what PMs and senior leaders need to remember when mistakes happen If you’re leading delivery, this is part of the job.
