Welcome our newest member - Franklin Hernandez
Let's say "hi" to our newest member - @Franklin Hernandez If youโ€™re caring for an aging parent or loved oneโ€”and feeling unsure what to do or where to turnโ€”youโ€™re in the right place. The Family Care Compass exists to be a place where: > you can share common experiences, > learn what steps to take, > navigate care decisions with confidence, > find those surprising and unique tips, and > to make sure you have a chance to laugh and relax in a supportive environment. You donโ€™t need to have all the answers. You donโ€™t even need to know the right questions yet. This community is here to help you find your directionโ€”one step at a time. While we all share many things in common as we care for our older loved ones, each situation is unique and deserves special attention. So, to get started, please share a bit about you -- ๐ŸŒŽWhere is your favorite vacation spot? ๐ŸฟWhat is your favorite movie? ๐Ÿ˜ŽWhat is your favorite emoji? Again, welcome!! Looking forward to sharing ideas, experiences and thoughts with you!

Check out the new Caregiver Library in the Classroom
Hi all. One of my goals has been to provide you with resources on a wide range of topics related to family caregiving. Well, the library is open!! Go to "Classroom" in the top menu of our community; click there. You will find the beginnings of what I hope will become a valuable and growing collection of books, reference materials, and resources that you can 'check out' at your own pace based on your current concerns or needs. I always caution folks that books are great, but very non-specific to your unique situation. The information can be a great framework for basic understanding, but it can be difficult to figure out how to apply it to your situation. And, there is so much information out there that it can quickly become overwhelming and confusing. And, that is why this community exists!! Here's the place to ask questions on what you read and get clarifications on how the materials applies to your family. Here's to good reading!

How confident do you feel making care-related decisions?
Wherever you might be right now with being a caregiver, how comfortable and confident do you feel when called upon to make care-related decisions for your loved one?

I'm somewhat confident and the reason why I answered that way is because I know my parents don't always give me all the details, so I can only go from the information I know. I know they are protecting me, because they don't want me to worry and I respect that, but having all the information is kinda important at this stage of their life.
What's Harder Right Now?
Wherever and whatever you maybe doing right now as a family caregiver, what seems the hardest part of caregiving? Remember - vote and feel free to add your comments on this post as you may have something quite different that is the hardest part for you.

I don't provide constant care for my parents at this time, but I am the daughter that is closest in proximity, so I interact with them most often and can be at their side within an hour...so most things naturally fall to me. I voted "not knowing" because while they are both still very independent, mom has fallen a few times and brushes it off like it's no big deal. We always get her checked out after every fall, but there is no follow up "what can she do to prevent future falls". So not knowing is my biggest concern.

@Marsha Vacca Thanks Marsha, that's helpful. I know that maintaining strength & balance are non-existent for her right now. A couple resources would be appreciated.
