6 contributions to Pottery People 💛☕️
New Group Name Announcement 🌱
Hi everyone, I wanted to share a small but important update with you. Today, @Pat Webb sent me a personal message that really gave me something to think about. We talked about whether the name “Pottery Moms” might unintentionally discourage people—especially men or anyone who doesn’t identify as a mom—from joining this wonderful group, even though they love pottery just as much. 🔥💪🏻 That is the very last thing I would ever want. This group is meant to be open, welcoming, and inspiring for everyone who enjoys working with clay. So with that in mind, I’ve renamed the group to POTTERY PEOPLE. My hope is that this new name makes it easier for more people to feel invited and included, and to find their way into this community. I truly hope this change is okay with all of you, and that I’ve acted in your spirit and on your behalf. Thank you for being such an amazing, supportive group 💛

That’s great. I actually felt slightly weird applying for this group because I’m not a mom. I think this is a better name.
🕰️ Early Birds vs. Night Owls 🦉
There are two types of people: ☀️ Early Birds who love mornings and 🌙 Night Owls who come alive at night. Which one are you? 👉 Please vote and then comment with a GIF that represents your choice or your energy level. I’m curious to see which group we belong to — let’s get to know each other a little better 💪🏻

I'm team no sleep. I try to go to bed early, and sometimes it happens, but most of the time I'm up late just to get everything I need to do in the day. I try to sleep in, and sometimes it works, but other times I'm wide awake at 4 a.m. So, some nights I get 10-12 hours of sleep (which I love), and other nights I get 3-5 hours of sleep (which I hate).
A Shared Mosaic – My Wish for 2027✨
In August 2027, I will turn 50 years old. 🙌 Instead of gifts, I have a heartfelt wish that I would love to start realizing together with this Skool community. 🎁 My dream is to create a large mosaic wall made of individual tiles, each one designed by someone from our community. Every tile will be a personal contribution, and together they will form a place that connects us all. 🙏🏻 Over the next 20 months, I would like to collect these tiles from as many of you as possible. I especially hope that when we see each other in Baltimore, some of you might already be able to hand over your tiles in person. And beyond that, I’m planning to visit many of you anyway — so I would be more than happy to come by and collect tiles personally whenever that’s possible. 🌎 Tile specifications - Size: 4 inches × 4 inches (approx. 10 × 10 cm) - Thickness: 0.2 inches (approx. 5 mm) Design Please feel free to be creative. 🤪 Colors, patterns, symbols, short quotes, thoughts — anything that represents you is welcome. Each tile should carry a small piece of your story. By the time I celebrate my 50th birthday in 2027, all these tiles will come together as one large mosaic on a wall — a shared artwork created by people from many places, moments, and perspectives. This is my personal birthday wish, and it would mean a lot to me if you chose to be part of it.🥰 Thank you for helping to create something lasting, meaningful, and shared. 💛

3-Day Water Fast – Have You Ever Tried It? 💦
I was just inspired by a YouTube video by Dr Mindy Pelz I watched, and it made me decide to do a three-day water fast starting now, at the beginning of the week. Over the past days, I’ve honestly still been eating a lot of leftovers from Christmas and New Year’s Eve. There’s still plenty left 😅 — but right now I really feel the desire to reset my body and give it the chance to rest and heal a little. 🧘🏼‍♀️ One of the reasons I’m drawn to water fasting is autophagy. During fasting, the body starts a natural “clean-up” process where old or damaged cells are broken down and recycled. This process supports cellular renewal and helps the body focus on repair rather than constant digestion. I really like the idea of giving my system some space to do what it’s designed to do.🙌 For me, three days of water fasting feels like a gentle but effective reset and a meaningful way to start the year with more awareness and intention. I’m curious: Have any of you done water fasting before? What were your experiences — physically or mentally? 🤯 Or is this something you’d never do? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts 🤍

Good luck with your fast. I can’t do that, it’s bad for my body (medically) but more power to you. I hope it helps.
Is there such a thing as too many glazes? 🧐🎨
This question came up recently under a video by Lori B., and I’d really love to bring this discussion into our skool community. ❓❔❓❔ I’m honestly very torn. I own a lot of glazes — and I do make a conscious effort to use the ones that usually play only a minor role in my glaze choices. Still, I sometimes feel that the number of glazes I have now is so large that I probably couldn’t use them all up in a lifetime. And yet… there are moments when it suddenly feels like it’s not enough. Then I catch myself sitting in front of my laptop, adding one or two “missing” glazes to my cart. 🙈 So I’m curious: - Are you disciplined when it comes to glazes? 🙅🏼‍♀️ - Do you have a small, favorite selection that you stick to?🙋🏼‍♀️ - Or do you also enjoy experimenting and collecting?🙆🏼‍♀️ Is there such a thing as too much? And if yes — what is too much? 🤷🏼‍♀️ Is there a number where you’d say: that’s enough? I do think pottery is an expensive hobby. But right now, there’s honestly nothing else I spend money on — except traveling and pottery. Being on the road, discovering new places, and sitting in my studio making things (besides my regular work) is such a big part of my life. I’d love to hear your thoughts. 💬 How do you feel about glazes? How many do you have?

I just got 7 more glazes for Christmas (the Kiln Ice Series plus one) so I’m going to go with no. I have no clue where I’m going to store all these glazes but one can never have too many. I tend to lean towards pinks, purples, blues and greens but occasionally want a yellow or orange so of course you need them all. And it’s not like they are like paints - you can’t just get the primary colors then mix your own.
