Funky Faces
Develop your sketchbook skills by completing regular practise techniques. Many of these are suitable for the whole family! They are design to be quick and achievable. So even if you are on a low energy day or don’t have much time you can watch a short video and complete a quick artwork/ exercise in response. Complete a Funky Face and drop it in the community group. The sillier the better! https://www.skool.com/jarman-arts-7011/classroom/086526af

@Allyson Hills Thank you for saying that. I'm REALLY glad that you like it! The colouring and the outlines were not all done in one line. Only the sketch first was and that honestly took me a few tries before I was ok with it. I covered all the lines because some had to be done twice in order for the pencil to move the right way. It didn't just come out like this on the first try. I just grew up in community (non-paid) theatre. We'd rehearse over and over until the director was ok with it. I'm not in it now but that got me used to repetitiveness. Perhaps I also get some of my repetitive nature from King George VI too. I honestly get my Epilepsy from his brother or Prince John, which is rather odd because I go all the way back to Mary Queen of Scots! Anyway, I'm very glad that you like it. :)

@Allyson Hills Yes it is. My father found out about Mary Queen of Scots and I researched until I eventually found out about Prince John from watching The Kings Speech. When I did..let me tell you it made me have a HUGE panic attack. I didn't even think that was POSSIBLE! It made me feel REALLY BAD for awhile because he died and I'm alive. Although that was 1919...STILL. I don't have seizures that bad anymore but growing up...man! Plus, they've blacklist me here so who knows what the future holds. Still, I wouldn't wish what Prince John went through on my worst enemy, let alone my ancestor! His parents DID love him because they saved his life by taking him out of the spotlight. Stress is the leading cause of seizures and there was no way of helping him at that time. I bet his dr.s suggested that. They also could have sent him to an Epileptic Camp but they didn't. That too just proves how much they cared because they were REALLY CRUEL to people with Epilepsy in 1919. Shoot, they weren't all that CARING to me and I grew up YEARS later. If I didn't get my Epilepsy from them, I doubt that I'd feel as strongly about the Royals though. I didn't grow up in the U.K. and I'm also related to a few really well known people from America... but I think Princess Diana was too which I didn't know until recently. I might be related to more than I think through her but I don't know if I want to continue researching there... I'm a bit interested but I'd just rather let it be... as Paul sings...
Colour your way to relaxation
Here is my next creative boost challenge. Today we found joy in colouring in our owl together. Learn to make layers with colouring pencils and press harder for burnished effects.

Check it out Katie!!! Yours looks better but I was only digitally colouring it...:) What do you think!? The roses were inspired by the Tudor rose and the peace was just added because I like peace signs. *GRINS*

Watercolour is soo hard!!! It really is. I tried it and I stink at it. I have a hard time NOT tearing the paper because of how many times I need to put a new layer on. It's frustrating!😂 Yet, I admit, I've still tried it... others seem to be really good at it...I'm just not. 🤣
Photoshoot day!
Putting my best foot forward as an artist means not just painting, but also stepping in front of the camera. I love sharing my colourful creations with the world, hoping they bring a little light and joy into someone’s day. Today was Photoshoot day (not my easiest job!) but with the help of my husband and son snapping away, I now have a whole bundle of new photos to share my owl paintings with you. Which painting is your favourite?

Hello guys ✌️
My name is Chantal, and I'm trying to refind my groove. I am an artist already, I've drawn for longer than I haven't. But lately I've had the worst art block that lasted almost 10 years. I was going through a lot and I felt like... like all my best artwork was behind me rather than in front. I'm a digital artist by trade but painting digitally started to feel grueling. performative. It wasn't fun, so I've tried expanding my reach. I'm trying to draw "within my comfort zone" to not improve but to feel joy. To feel healing, and I think I'm starting to like drawing again. I never did much traditional art out of "politeness". Traditional art is messy, takes up space, and you have to live with your mistakes. Digital art is way more discreet but sometimes it can be cold. I haven't ventured out to full out painting yet, just dibble and dabbling in more pedestrian tools. Like crayons, colored pencils, and alcoholic markers. I have been testing out watercolors but the colored pencils kind. My friend for my birthday bought me actual watercolors but I'm a little shy in trying them. Eventually I'll try it. Here are some of the art I've done recently. I hope we can all grow and I can learn to further expand. Not out of competition, but out of fun.

@Chantal Noire I know this is from 9days ago but I wanted to reply. I tried Oils once but can only use pastel pencils from time to time. Oils are VERY smelly and awful for allergies. They also take some STRONG liquids to clean up your brushes. If you have any sort of health condition, I doubt they'll be good for you. They are very vibrant and bold though! Some like oil paintings because they don't dry very fast. You can go back and fix whatever you wish for a few weeks or so. I'm a bit odd though and like things that dry fast! I don't lean towards realistic work but more abstract. I tend to see meanings in some abstract works that create more of a challenge for me to find. I don't know EVERYTHING, I don't think anyone does, so love a challenge! I like some surrealism too but it's not the main type of art I tend to turn to. That's part of the reason for my loving the idea of Katies one line self-portrait. I want to try that and paint in the parts I can with different colours!!! *GRINS* I wonder if it'll look like a Picasso. Thanks for sharing that idea Katie!!! I hope that it's alright for me to have left this here?
