Confirm your shows...
Traveled to West Brookfield, MA, this afternoon for a show and it went very well considering they didn't have me on their schedule... A week ago I sent the activity director an email confirming the show today at 1pm and she got back to me with an affirmative👍. Great! I get there today and I wasn't on their calendar and the director had been let go a week ago!? A word of caution to everyone booking gigs at senior communities- CONFIRM YOUR SHOW ON THE DAY OF your show. I should have known better. My usual philosophy is to show up if the event is in question just in the case the residents are expecting me. :) Don't make the same mistakes that I do 🙏🙏🙏

I hope this wasnt your 12 month booking suddenly gone down the drain
How soon to call again?
Hi all. I just finally started calling places last week, but so far I have only been able to leave messages, since activities directors seem to be very busy people. No one has gotten back to me yet. How soon should I retry contacting the activities directors? I would love to just send them an email, but I am not sure how to get the email addresses for the activities directors unless they give them to you. Thanks!

i am moving so slowly thought this same thing! I have called only a couple of places I am worried that once I get an opportunity I will blow it by not being good enough, and then I wont get any gigs. Not sure how to put aside my imposter syndrome!
You Make the Difference!
Every day , 1000s of residents look forward to a musical performance at their community that lifts their spirits and helps them to feel better. And there are many others that don't have visitors at all. Imagine that you make the difference. Getting started as a musical performer doesn't mean being the best player or singer. It begins with showing up. Not all performances are 'paid' but they are ALL appreciated. The residents love live music and your presence and your 'being there' can have an incredible healing effect on their hearts and souls. If your thinking about getting started as a musical performer, maybe the best places to reach out to are the communities right in your home town. The smaller homes. Those nursing homes without much parking. The places that may not be glamorous from the outside. They need you... This is how I began doing shows at senior communities. It starts with learning the crowds and understanding the show is more about connection and caring vs. playing perfectly. It starts with volunteering and donating time, then building up your reputation as you become a more confident player. Go out and shine your love and light and let your music and presence be the brightest part of a resident's day! You are ready right now, don't wait to contribute your love to senior communities!❤️❤️

Hey @Joe Dusel - one thing I have done for a while is volunteering with hospice - a hospice organization is federally required to have volunteers (so they are always on the look out) and typically this has been visiting an individual rather than playing for a group - you might enjoy taking that approach.
Sharing one of my friend’s music
Hi everyone, I just wanted to share one of the ukulele players and member that participates in one of my music groups. His name is Bruce. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLXHI-VNKtH_xaS_HRW34Xj6aXJ8oZwNDU&si=BvJ5CLan3S5hojFB

First Seniors Gig
Doing my first seniors concert this Tuesday. I am super excited. I feel ready. I have gleaned so many tips from watching your videos. The one I need to really keep forefront is play slower.
