Welcome!
Welcome, everyone! I'm so excited to be interacting with you all here. I think this is a good solution for those that don't love the distraction of Facebook but find Slack cumbersome! I wanted to share my desk setup for the fall. I have pretty bad ADHD and find that having a clean, cozy desk really helps me to stay focused and on task. It's also fall here in the Pacific Northwest, so I had to have all the autumnal vibes in my decor! Share below! What does your desk or writing setup look like?!
Welcome!

Same with the ADHD here. But we're in hurricane season and hot temps here in FL, so no autumnal vibes. Dreaming of moving to the PNW.
What’s your Author Tech Stack? 💻✍️
This is one of my favorite things to geek out about with authors! Every author ends up building their own little “tech stack”. . . the set of tools and softwares you rely on to keep your books, marketing, and business running smoothly. I'd love to know: - What tools are you using right now? (Ex: Notion, Trello, BookFunnel, MailerLite, Canva, etc.) - Where do you feel stuck or like you need suggestions? Sometimes the best recommendations come from other authors who’ve already tested what works (and what doesn’t). Let’s compare notes!

I use Kit, Oh My Hi!, BookFunnel, and Google Workspace the most consistently. I'm sure there's more...lol.

@Lorna Bailey Yes! I have GoDaddy for my other business website (I'm a therapist), but I decided to go with Oh My Hi! for my author website because they created author templates with Sarra Cannon. And it's Wordpress-based. Super easy to work with after a little learning time.
Beverage of choice? ☕️
When you sit down to write, what’s your go-to drink? Coffee, tea, water, or something else? (I’m always curious about writers’ habits!)

I usually stick with tea or water in the mornings when I write.

@Lorna Bailey All kinds! Lol. I have more than I can drink. Everything from herbal to black to green...and specialty looseleaf teas, too.
Which project management tool should I use?
What project management tool should I use as an author? This is a question I get asked just about weekly! Honestly. . . it's the one you will use. 📝 If you love digital: - Trello → simple, visual boards (great for seeing your book from draft to publish). - Asana → more structure, recurring tasks (helpful if you juggle multiple books). - Notion → customizable and powerful (if you like to build your own systems). If you’re more pen + paper: - A simple planner or notebook with a weekly “to-do” spread works just as well! 👉 Start small: write down every task in one place. Give those tasks due dates. Reverse engineer from your due date or current writing project. Then choose ONE tool to track your next book project. Don’t overcomplicate it! Clarity beats complexity every time. You would be surprised at how simple some systems are for big-time authors. But the key is they stay consistent! What tool are you using right now (or curious to try)?

I actually created a Google Sheet in my Workplace account to manage all of my projects.
Do you really know your readers? 👀
One of the most powerful things you can do as an author is to figure out who your readers are—not just “anyone who likes books,” but the specific people who connect most with your stories. 👉 Quick tip: Think of 1–2 real people who would love your book. Write down what they read, where they hang out online, and what makes them excited to pick up a new story. That becomes the start of your “reader profile.” When you know who you’re talking to, your marketing (and writing!) feels so much clearer. Who do you imagine when you picture your ideal reader?

Not yet, but I will eventually! I'm just starting out and have a very small list. Little by little I'm building it up and will begin polling my readers, then add what I've learned to add even more!
