Let’s catch up ☕️✍️
I’d love to know what you’re working on this week! What’s one writing or author-related thing you’ve been focusing on recently (big or small)?

I mainly worked on my writing/editing schedule for the next year. 🤞there's not a lot of changes as I go.
Where I have been. . .
Hey all, I wanted to take a moment to share that my dad passed away recently, which is why I’ve been quiet and away for the last couple of weeks. It’s been a really hard season, and I needed a little time to rest, process and be with my family. I just want to say how grateful I am to be back here with this cozy, creative community. This group and all the amazing authors I get to work with really do feel like a bright spot for me. Thank you for your patience and for being part of this little corner of the author world. I’m excited to jump back in, hear what you’ve all been working on, and keep building together. 🕯️

Tell us about your current work in progress! 🖋️✨
Whether you’re drafting, editing, plotting, or somewhere in between — your WIP is worth celebrating! Every bit of progress counts. 💪 👉 Share with us: - What are you working on right now? - What’s working well for you in your process? - And what’s not working — what’s been challenging lately? Sometimes sharing where we’re at (the good and the messy) can spark new ideas or remind someone else they’re not alone in it. So let’s hear it — what’s your WIP, and how’s it going this week?

@Kc Herbel Good luck! Remember that everything you add to it is progress. Even if it's only a little at a time.

@Tricia Lynne Love PWA, but it does keep on giving conflicting information when it comes to comma's and other changes. It'll say to change it, then we do and then it comes back around and says to change it again. Totally frustrating!
Where do your ideas live? 💡
Brandon Sanderson once said he keeps story ideas in a note on his phone — and Taylor Swift does the same with her lyric ideas. Inspiration can hit at the weirdest times, and I love that even big names just capture it quickly before it disappears, no matter how random they may seem. 👉 I’m curious: How do you store your ideas when they come to you? Do you jot them down in a notebook, record a voice memo, text yourself, or have a fancy system in Notion or Scrivener? There’s no wrong answer — the best system is the one that keeps your ideas from slipping away and that it's accessible for you to look back on when writing.

I keep mine now in a Google Doc, but I once had them on Notion. Or on scraps of paper. Or in various Pages documents.
Let’s talk about. . . "Avoidance Activities". 😅✍️
You know those days when you mean to write, but somehow you end up reorganizing your bookshelves, cleaning your inbox, or deep-diving into random research that totally feels productive. . . but isn’t? Yep — that’s avoidance in disguise. We all do it! Sometimes it’s fear, perfectionism, or the mental fatigue of needing to learn a new skill to level up or your author business. 👉 Tell me: What’s your go-to avoidance activity when you’re avoiding your writing? (I’ll go first — mine is “I just need to clean the bathroom and do the dishes really quick.” 😅) Let’s see if we can laugh about it together and maybe even catch ourselves next time it happens and get our buttocks in the chair and hands on the keyboard instead!

Like Sandra, it's usually "I need to fix one more thing" or "I need to just learn one more thing", then I can get back to what I need to do.
