I think your left needs to get off earlier so you can reach the front faster
Practice Throw ~35-37 meters
My second practice transitioning to the 1.6kg disc, just wondering if I could get any tips or tweaks to help my technique going into my freshman year. Anything helps!

You’re just kinda turning not really actually leaning and using your weight to propel you across the ring. Some old school throwers did this but they relied on an insanely torqued finish and were insanely strong. Even though they didn’t use their weight as much as you see what current throwers doing now, they still used their weight a little bit.
1st post for review (44-45m throws)
After many years as shotputter (16m72), I want to finish my carreer as discus thrower. This year I almost reach my old PB (48m72 in 2008) with 46m07 in june 👊 My funny goal is throwing 47m at 47 years old 😅 Here, some good throws between 44 and 45m.. Thanks to the community for advices 🙏

@Thomas Cuisset Yeah that one has the high sweep in the middle I’m pretty sure you can see it. It’s also possible that raising the knee cue is causing your sweep leg to do like an extension of some sorts in the middle which is like “kicking” your momentum up instead of driving forward. Try setting up a cone and moving your sweep over it as a “high-point” so that it can hit a low point in the middle. Look at Yemisi Ogunleye from Germany; even though she’s a shot putter her sweep can be used in the exact same way in discus. Make sure you’re just using the leg not any of her core/hip positions because in discus it will look quite different.

You need to stay on top of the hip while keeping the core stacked. You should not be bent over the knee when exiting the back. Mainly try and enter the throw balanced so that you can connect to the middle better. Your rotation is good otherwise in the middle to front

This throw was about 147ft in warms up.

I like this a lot. It seems you were late to the front with the left foot just because you pick up the left leg when going from the middle to the front. Alekna does this but he gets down super fast. It’s possible that you can use this too but either way your left leg needs to get down faster in the front.
