This closing mistake delayed funding⦠whoās at fault?
We had a closing where the signer needed to sign in two different capacities: āļø As President of a company āļø And also in a personal capacity The notary completed the signingā¦but only captured the signature as President. The personal signature?Missed. The documents had to be corrected. Now hereās where it gets interesting⦠At The Closing Signing Service, we also reviewed the documents and we didnāt catch it either ;( When we reached out to the notary to fix it,they agreed to go back, but requested an additional fee. š” Hereās the lesson: Closings are not just about āgetting signatures.āTheyāre about understanding how and in what capacity those signatures are required. This is where true professionalism shows. āļø Notaries must be detail-oriented āļø Signing services must have strong quality control āļø The priority should always be protecting the client experience Now I want to hear from you š Who do you believe is responsible in this situation? And be honest⦠If you were the notary, would you charge an additional fee to go back and fix it? āļø Yesāļø Noāļø Depends At the end of the day, this is exactly why Iām so passionate about training notariesā¦because the better they perform, the better we serve our clients. And of course, we got it resolved, the documents were corrected, and the transaction successfully funded šŖ
