New Dispatcher
Hi my name is Britteny. I live inย Houston,TX and I plan on making $2000 per month dispatching trucks to start with, but I plan on building a company and being a private dispatcher for my sons and family members. I am shy, but I am learning how to overcome hard things๐Ÿซ  I would like to gain these 3 things from this community: 1. ย How to build a relationship with other dispatchers. (I'm really shy) 2. ย Find other resources for a closer dive into dispatching. 3. Learning/understanding the Load Board better. Fun facts about me: 1. ย I'm a RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) for anyone with Autism 2. ย I'm a mother of four kids and a wife. 3. ย I love to hang out with my family/ lots of family vacations. 4. LOOOVE TV/MOVIE

@Britteny Brown Welcome to the community, its nice to know there is another person in H town here.
Question
Sorry, but I have several questions. 1. I got some weakly update saying that: * dry van LTR is 6%. *reefer LTR is 10%. *flatbed LTR is 20% For example would it mean for dry vans that for every 100 trucks there are only 6 loads available? 2. In the picture, its for the market conditions. In the red, are those the states that would be called hot zones? You guys feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

๐Ÿ“Š Weekly Freight Market Update
Hey Everyone ๐Ÿ‘‹, letโ€™s break down this weekโ€™s freight market shifts and what they mean for your owner-operators. Weโ€™re finally seeing some positive movement on the spot market, but the general freight landscape is still tough. Hereโ€™s what you need to know to plan better, negotiate smarter, and avoid bad zones: ๐Ÿงญ General Market Overview: - ๐Ÿ“‰ General freight volume down 1% week-over-week (W-o-W). - ๐Ÿ“‰ Rejection rates down 5.2% W-o-W โ€” fewer loads being turned away. - ๐Ÿ“ˆ Spot market volumes up 8.7% and rates up 5ยข per mile on average! - ๐Ÿ›ข Diesel: National average is $3.61/gal, up slightly this week. Avoid refueling on the West Coast and Northeast โ€“ still the priciest zones. ๐Ÿš› Dry Van Breakdown: - ๐Ÿ“ˆ Spot rates up 3ยข this week; average is now $1.84/mi. - ๐Ÿ”ผ Volumes up 7% W-o-W, but still 2% lower than last year. - ๐Ÿ“ Best freight zones: Texas, Georgia, and the Midwest. - โš  Avoid: Northeast, Plain States, Florida โ€” overcapacity and weak rates. - ๐Ÿ’ก Tip: Look for clusters of equilibrium or slight under-capacity to give your O/Os more negotiating power. โ„๏ธ Reefer Overview: - ๐Ÿ“ˆ Spot rates up 2ยข W-o-W; current average is $2.10/mi. - ๐Ÿ”ผ Volumes up 4.3% W-o-W, but still down 8% YoY. - ๐Ÿ“ Strong zones: Texas, Midwest (MN, MO, IA), parts of PA/IL/GA. - โš  Weak zones: Oregon, Washington, Plains โ€” low load counts. - ๐Ÿšจ Note: Reefers are harder to reposition out of bad zones. Stick to high-volume markets. ๐Ÿ”ฉ Flatbed Surge: - ๐Ÿ“ˆ Spot rates up 5ยข to $2.50/mi. - ๐Ÿš€ Volumes up nearly 100% W-o-W and 33% YoY โ€” huge spike. - ๐Ÿ“ Hot zones: South, Midwest, East Coast. - โš  Avoid: Plains, Arizona, Northeast โ€” weak ratios & tough backhauls. - ๐Ÿ’ก Carriers willing to haul tarp/chained/binder loads are getting better rates. ๐Ÿšฆ Capacity Watch: - ๐Ÿš› Net carrier count rose again this week (+203 carriers). This is the 3rd week in a row showing growth. - ๐Ÿค” Still unclear why new carriers are entering in a slow-paying market โ€” possibly prepping for spring/summer surges?

@Danny Aguirre The only thing I have pieced together is the type of truck I want to deal with and issue I could potentially run into with them. I havenโ€™t really gotten too far though.

@Rosendo Salgado I have a question, when you say start with smaller loads; what do you mean by that? Do you mean stick close to your area? Another question what do you mean with the term lanes?
Market Research
To have a better understanding of the trucking industry, I know Freightwaves is a place to start. Is there any other website or any other way to go about researching the market behavior?? If I made any sense.
