What you’re doing already along with your boxing training should be sufficient providing you’re pushing yourself. Do you keep records of your times in order to monitor your progress? Also for amateur boxing you just need to be fit for 3 x 2 min rounds. So push yourself hard in your boxing sessions. Don’t be afraid of gassing out in the gym. It’s better you gas out there than in a fight.

@Nolan Buddery Try working up to 10 sprints per session 2 to 3 times a week. Also vary the timings of the sprints. E.g 30 on 30 off, 20 on 10 off, 1 minute on 30 seconds off, 2 minutes on 1 minute off. There’s lots to play around with but try keeping a log to help you beat your times.

Is there a factor that makes me feel I spar better with my top off than when im wearing it cause yh I feel that way

Probably psychological unless the top you’re wearing is restricting your movement slightly in some way.

@Ezekiel Oluwarotimi just try different things. You won’t always have success with it immediately especially if it’s new to you. Key is to develop different styles to keep giving different looks and make adjustments throughtout
Help

Tall, mobile boxers can be frustrating, but don’t make the mistake of chasing them around the ring that usually plays into their hands. Instead, focus on cutting the ring off rather than following them. Use your jab to close the distance, keep a high guard keeping your head off the line at all times, and take small steps forward instead of lunging in. Feint your way in to draw a reaction, then step into range behind your jab or a double jab. Also pay attention to when he’s moving. Most boxers are easier to catch just after they’ve taken a step or thrown their jab. That’s often your best opportunity to close the gap. Also when appropriate try the jab to the body with the right hand over the top. On Wednesday, don’t make it your goal to “win” the spar. Make it your goal to get inside under control and stay there without rushing. Even if you only do it a few times, that’s progress. Whatever happens always keep your shape throughout the spar.
