When something is understood only in thought, the mind keeps working. It keeps questioning, arguing, trying to reach certainty. But there comes a point where understanding stops being mental and becomes lived. Not because every doubt is answered, but because attention settles. In The Now Mode, this happens when the question “Who is thinking?” is no longer asked to get an answer, but noticed as a movement of thought itself. In that noticing, effort drops away. You don’t need to convince yourself of anything. You don’t need to reach a conclusion. When attention rests here, the need for constant instruction fades. Not because you know more, but because you are no longer being pulled by every thought. Presence doesn’t argue. It simply remains.
