I am considering developing a virtual Civil Rights lesson for middle and high school!
This would not be a surface level biography lesson. - It would focus on: - How systems protected injustice - What Black resilience looks like after lost - How grief becomes long term activism - Why justice sometimes takes decades The framing is trauma informed and agency centered. The focus is endurance, strategy, and institutional change. Intended age group: Ages 12 and up Grades 7 through 12 Because the lesson discusses assassination and racial injustice, it is not designed for elementary students. Before I build the full slide deck and materials, I would love to know: - Would you enroll your student? - Would you attend as a family session? - Would you want this as a one time workshop or part of a short series on Black resilience? Comment or message me if interested.

@V Winn Thank you for the feedback.
Black History Month
Working on some concepts and lessons for Black History month! Who are some figures or tough questions/concepts you want your student/child to learn about? So far I have two early elementary lessons for Ruby Bridges and Sister Rosetta Tharpe. I'll love to add more. Also I'll love some students to teach to during the class. Please let me know if interested!

@V Winn No problem! I'm in the middle of getting my website together, but once I figure out what works best, I'll post them here

@Meriska Brown Always
From homeschooled kid to Dr. of Education: Help me build what our village actually needs! 📚✊🏾
Hi Everyone, I’m coming to you both as a fellow "homegrown" student and a professional educator. I’ve spent 7 years in the classroom and close to finishing my Doctorate in Educational Leadership, but my heart has always stayed with the homeschooling community. I’m passionate about creating high-level, culturally responsive resources that actually reflect our children's lives. I’m currently developing a few projects, like a Sociology/ELA course exploring Fatherhood through the lens of J. Cole, Drake, and Kendrick Lamar, along with Pre-Algebra and Essay Writing intensives. However, I don't want to create in a vacuum. I want to build exactly what your family is looking for. If you have a moment, I’d love your real talk feedback: - The Gap: What is the one subject or skill that feels like a struggle to teach at home right now? - The Format: Do you prefer Live Classes (social/interactive), Asynchronous/Self-Paced (flexible), or Parent Workshops (equipping you to lead)? - The Support: Are you looking for a "tutor" to help with daily homework, or a "specialist" to teach a specific, deep-dive course? - I want to make sure the resources I build are useful, culturally grounded, and take the pressure off you as parents. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

@V Winn Thank you so muuch, I'm taking these into consideration and designing some classes. I'm on Outschool, but I don't super love the platform and how much it cost. I am thinking of offering classes that are self paced and some mixed on another platform called Super Teacher. I like the look of it so far and it allows me to conduct my tutoring business and offer the classes I want as well. I think you would love my class I'm developing on the Big Three in hip hop and their relationship to fatherhood both as sons and as fathers. I'm excited about it.

I was homeschooled most of middle and I'm in charge of homeschooling my nieces, who are (almost) 3 and 1. I also work with homeschool families!
