Has anyone experimented with using pine straw instead of regular stamraw for a cob mix and/or for insulation on a pallet cob? Just curious because I've got tons and tons of pine straw around here.
Worked great for my Adobe bricks and earthen floor test. I used it chopped up for earthen floor. Trying soon in earthen plaster. I insulated my pallets with the bigger strands because hay gives me a headache. I used whole strands for the adobe Brick
I agree on the insulation. I’m going to stuff the pallets then add them to the top. I was thinking of making concrete frames to pour under the pallets or making it with rock and mortar. I have a lot of rock of all sizes available.
Also I was thinking of framing the bottom from the outside and filling it in when I do the earthen floor. Adding boards under the pallets now would be challenging.
