$10 Pallet coop — to be cobbed down the road.
Ten bucks for hardware and a few cuts of actual lumber from other projects. Maybe $20 if you count gas. We’ll fill in the out gaps and cob it down the road. This is our biggest pallet structure and I’m really getting the hang of how to manage them and the need to level them at the start if you don’t want a whole bunch of funky math on later steps! Thankfully math and freestyling are my strong points but I plan to make the cobin easier on myself by heeding @Sir Cobalot’s advice to have everything level, square and plumb from the get go. For now…chickens are in and the next warm days are for the cob oven and cobin! We’re in Central Alabama.

@Shannon Carpenter Oh, nice! Are they pretty relaxed with building restrictions there?

@Shannon Carpenter Awesome! Good to know of other areas that are relaxed like that!
Pine Straw
Has anyone experimented with using pine straw instead of regular stamraw for a cob mix and/or for insulation on a pallet cob? Just curious because I've got tons and tons of pine straw around here.

@Sir Cobalot Oh, awesome! That's great to hear! Thanks! There's so much of it here.
Happy Holidays to you!
Wishing you all a happy holiday season, see you next year! I’m up on Cobb Mountain now in Lake County visiting friends, family & cob creations…

Merry Cobmas!
Visiting Andreas cobin
I just visited Andrea’s cobin out here in Saint Helena Ca where she is building herself a Palletable Cobin. Thought y’all would like to see her progress. She’s definitely needing some help with the Cob so we’re talking about putting together on the sort of work party to help make that happen.

Looks great so far!
Hey Everyone! 👋
I'm new to the group and am really excited about natural building and permaculture. I'd love to hear from anyone with experience dealing with building codes/more restrictive areas and how best to navigate building pallet cob structures in those places. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

@Sir Cobalot Hey! Thanks for following up! We actually have decided to pause the sauna project and focus on figuring out exactly where/how we want to build our cob house. We'll start with that, and then work on additional upgrades like a sauna.
